COVID-19: Welsh Govt challenged for closing churches in lockdown
The Welsh Government has been challenged over its decision to close churches as part of its measures to combat the coronavirus.

Places of worship in Wales will be closed until 9 November, along with pubs, restaurants and non-essential shops.

But Darren Millar, MS for Clwyd West, said churches should be recognised as “essential” and that many church leaders had contacted him expressing their “utter dismay” at the authorities’ decision.

4 weeks? Sure. Maybe 4 weeks at a time. Can’t these guys come up with a new plan? After all who couldn’t put up with 4 weeks? However, since the Covid 19 didn’t go away after several months of, um, following the science, how exactly is anything going to improve after 4 weeks? Can’t wait to see what our beloved governor Cuomo is going to come up with for his version of protecting the public by suffocating people and crippling life during round 2 of whatever it is.

I strongly suspect Mr Blakeford, the Welsh First Minister has unfortunately been reading about California and Michigan, and most likely the even more stringent and drastic lockdown of Melbourne and Victoria in Australia. He made a right mess of closing down “non-essential” shops in his 2nd lockdown, and taping off such goods in supermarkets. He also imposed Australian style internal travel bans, (though not as rigidly enforced), and the disgraceful closing of churches a second tune was quite unnecessary. All churches in Wales had compulsory masks, social distancing and a ban on congregational singing before this lockdown, so there was no need to shut them.

If they were wearing masks and social distancing, then this was an overreaction by the Welsh government. đź‘Ž
