The internet giants know everything about us - and that should worry everyone
It is not our data that is being sold but models that predict our actions. Everything people are doing online is being monitored, measured, tracked and carefully recorded. They know when people are lonely, depressed etc. They have more information about us than has ever been imagined in human history.
These companies have been so successful that they are now the richest companies in human history and in some instances more powerful than many governments.
How do they do it? Lanier argues that "manipulation, deceit and sneakiness are at the very centre of our culture" ....

Bro, are you describing CV? I am asking him what he thinks I ought to be doing or not doing according to his beliefs about the fake (or unfake, as the case may be) pandemic.

Okay brother, here are some things you might ponder.
Say you do something when you don’t do it.
Say you believe something when you don’t believe it.
Have more of a herd mentality than you currently have. Here is the definition that I am referring to: "the tendency for people's behavior or beliefs to conform to those of the group to which they belong".
John has it occurred to you that you might have bought into the deception? That you bought into the fake news of a virus that people needed to be locked down and wear masks and they should be made responsible for deaths? Of course you hold a house church that defies all that?
And being a little to the left, you had to come out and proclaim that you couldn't pray for Trump "right now." Just how hard is a prayer? Most people want to appear smart by dismissing "conspiracy." Isn't that just ducky! Don't you sound smart? The bible tells of a conspiracy by the devil, he has conspired to deceive the world. You don't believe a worldwide deception can take place either. Really now?
I don't know if this is THE end time event. The bible has both, near and far prophesies, such as Anti-Christ(1Jn2:18) and THE Anti Christ.
Even if you couldn't see the present deception that is too too painfully obvious, for a believer to dismiss conspiracy isn't smart sounding - because it is the dismiss the bibles own proclamation of it.
Feel free not to believe in deception. But to poo poo conspiracy and worldwide deception puts you on the unbelievable side!
[Another key aspect which the film exposes is the distortion of truth that social media and the internet enables. Fake news on Twitter spreads six times faster than the truth. Why is that? The film suggests that it is because falsehood sells. But that just begs the question, why does falsehood sell? Why do people prefer lies before truth? They have no answer, but the Bible does: "You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth." (Psalm 52:3)]
Psalms 52:3 KJV (3)Â Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness.
[The Truman show states: "We accept the reality of the world we have been presented with."]
[Indeed. That's why people are atheists! We are presented with lies by the father of lies and the mastermind of deception and darkness. The film talks about living in a world where no one believes that anything is true, where everything is part of a conspiracy. Indeed. That is the world without the One who is The Truth.]
