Tech companies believe 'public has no right to understand how they function'
Social media platforms are our modern digital public squares in which the public, press, and policymakers come together on what amounts to digital private property to debate our nation’s future. Within these Orwellian walled gardens, ever-changing rules of “acceptable speech” dictate what Americans are permitted to say and see. Dissenting views are often redefined as “misinformation” and “hate speech,” while inconvenient facts disappear into the “memory hole.” As Silicon Valley has become the de facto Ministry of Truth, why have the corporate gatekeepers not encountered greater pushback? The answer is that in the absence of governmental regulations requiring greater transparency about their operations, they are able to shield their growing power from public scrutiny.
These companies increasingly operate today as black boxes. In their view, the public has no right to understand how they function,...
These companies like banks have always operated in a black hole... the sec and other government entities are supposed to make financial institutions transparent. They are not... look at all the scandals every year in that industry. Use their technology for the promotion of the gospel. Use their algorithms for the gospel... it’s not rocket science... look at ministries like living waters and ray comfort who exploit these companies like YouTube for good. 180movie.com etc..
When Christians take a stand and get rid of all social media accounts stories like this will not affect us. I’m afraid that no one knows how to communicate without face book. It’s sad to see where Christians are no different than the world we are told to go against. Social media platforms are not run by Godly people. No matter how many scriptures you post on your Facebook wall it won’t change the foundations of the program.
