Strangers crash Greensboro church service on Zoom, post pornography, racial slurs
What started as a day of worship quickly turned into chaos when a virtual church service got hacked on Sunday.
The Minister of Sharpe Road Church of Christ, Nicholas Glenn, said a group of individuals got on his congregation’s virtual church Zoom call, posted pornographic images and typed racial slurs and threatening words of hate during the service.
The incident is being considered a harassment case currently, according to the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office. The department’s internet crimes team is investigating....
Same sort of thing happened to my son’s dance class who have special needs and disabilities. They used to advertise the zoom code online but now change the code weekly and send it out in an email to members weekly.
My church was using zoom, I cautioned against it , was told “we’ll deal with it when it happens”. If the thief came into your home, then would you open the door or lock the door to keep the thief out? Sort of like the sin in the world, we don’t mind being in it, but when it starts throwing mud on us, then we’ll think about washing it off.
I was a resident of Greensboro for nearly 30 years. It will be interesting to discover if these infiltrators are truly right wing. The pornography and the childish racist comments doesn't match the sophistication of the hack and number of hackers. Sounds like something out of the anarchist's playbook.
I am sure it is things like this that cause some small churches, and even larger ones, to decline to put their church services online during the lockdowns, or when they can have (even with severe restrictions) home in person services. One IFB church I know of here in Britain does have online services, which are slightly interactive, but not through Zoom, but through a lesser known business conferencing site, WebEx, and it has to be done through invitation. Other churches simply use a non interactive one way webcast using their own website, You Tube, or here on SA. However, webcasts are no substitute for the real thing, in person actual present services!! 700 odd pastors here in Britain have challenged any idea of a second national lockdown, or another new total closure of the churches such as happened in March for 4 months.
