Let My People Meet: Capitol Hill Baptist, and Inconsistent Government Rules
n recent news, Capitol Hill Baptist Church has filed a complaint against the mayor of Washington D.C. Muriel Bowser. The basic message of the complaint centers around “…the right to gather for corporate worship free from threat of governmental sanction.”

For those who may not be familiar, here are some of the applications of Mark Dever’s (and CHBC’s) ecclesiology:

CHBC doesn’t offer multiple services,

CHBC doesn’t utilize a multi-site model, ...

I didn’t read the article.

Let me state something that I have stated several times. If a pastor biblically believes he should open up his church, then he should open up his church. If members biblically believe they should attend those services, then they should attend those services. If the local authorities disagree, then they should explain to them their reasoning and if they still disagree, they should ignore them. If they cannot afford the fines, then they can go to jail.

What a wonderful blessing it is when we suffer persecution for being a Christian.

Acts 5:29 “Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.”

1 Peter 3:17 “For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.”

I didn't know that, Adriel. Have you celebrated it then?

We celebrate the communion every time we meet now. It is the communion of the body and blood of Jesus Christ. It is a great blessing, because we always have open prayer straight afterwards, both males and females, and those prayers are much enhanced by our meditation on our Lord Jesus and thinking of Calvary, the place of peace and pardon.

We use bread that actually breaks, not your soft sliced white bread. This helps to remind us of the broken body of Christ.
