California megachurch draws thousands at in-person services defying state coronavirus orders
Grace Community Church held in-person services on Sunday, and Pastor John MacArthur told CNN that six or seven thousand people showed up.
The crowd size defies a state order released at the end of July that limits indoor attendance at a place of worship to 25 percent of a building capacity or a maximum of 100 attendees, whichever is lower.
Asked about his disregard of coronavirus restrictions, MacArthur dismissed the responsibility for him to follow such guidelines.
‚ÄúWhen we look inside of your church, it is indoors, as you said, there‚Äôs thousands of people, there is absolutely no social distancing, there [are] no masks. Why not get creative, so you can obey, as you put it ‚Äėgod's law,‚Äô but also obey public health regulations?‚ÄĚ CNN‚Äôs Brianna Keilar asked the pastor....
Governor Newsom has had particularly odd lockdowns. Some, he opened for most , then closed , for the few. But, if you’re saved, in Christ, then there are times that while on this terra firma, you will be making distinctions in your faith. And whatever Grace Community church does is perfectly fine. Our church is open, but we’re at 50%. We haven’t experienced the awakening that MacArthur’s church has. And yes, Christian’s biggest problem is they are both afraid of government and pine for a seat at the table. That means, opening your church as an essential part of this world.
Jim; People already mock the 1 & True living God already. As their is no neutrality myth with Christ Jim!! Either one is in Christ or one is outside of Christ!
Jim the mask mandates are political & financially driven to promote fear into people lives, by controlling them. As that’s 1 goal of the leftist news media & others too, they want sheep!
Jim; Sure is interesting how the Murder Mills have been opened during the Virus situation we have going on. O’ How nice, Babies have been able to be ripped apart, & their heads crushed or be chemically burned. O how loving that’s, NOT!
NeedHim, I dare you to find I ever said anything about looting was okay
"We need to get back to worshiping God in our churches, but the challenge is to do so safely so that God may be praised and not mocked. Creative church leaders will find ways to do this; others will ignore the facts and tempt fate."---Robert Box
Psalms 68:21‚ÄďBut God shall wound the head of his enemies, and the hairy scalp of such an one as goeth on still in his trespasses. Jim, I know you‚Äôve been told and told and told, but I‚Äôm warning you again old sport, you‚Äôre on a collision course with the Holy Headbuster.
Daniel Burke wrote: ..... Churches obey all kinds of government guidelines, from fire codes to maximum occupancy limits. Surely trying to contain a pandemic falls within that category and is not a new government overreach or attempt to shut down churches, other evangelicals have argued.
Brad Littlejohn, president of Davenant Institute, a collection of Reformed Protestant scholars, wrote a 7,500-word rebuttal to MacArthur earlier this month.
He argued that the pastor is endangering his flock and perhaps thousands of other church leaders who may be galvanized by his civil disobedience....
