Expert warns of huge violence problem in public schools
An expert on education is warning of the huge problem of violence in public and even private schools.

It's one of the main reasons why people choose to homeschool their children, writes Steven Duvall, who teaches Ph.D. candidates at Pittsburg State University in Kansas how to become school psychologists.

Duvall's column was published by the Homeschool Legal Defense Association as part of a series of responses to claims by Professor Elizabeth Bartholet that homeschooling essentially should be banned.

Bartholet contended in an article published by Harvard Magazine that students "are safer" in public school. ...

Dr. Deborah Birx, the White House's coronavirus task force response coordinator, blasted the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention during a discussion on COVID-19 data in a recent meeting, The Washington Post reported on Saturday.

"There is nothing from the CDC that I can trust," she told CDC Director Robert Redfield, two people familiar with the meeting told the newspaper.

The Post reported that Birx and others feared that the CDC's data-tracking system was inflating coronavirus statistics like mortality rates and case numbers by up to 25%.-https://www.businessinsider.com/deborah-birx-cdc-comments-coronavirus-task-force-meeting-2020-5?fbclid=IwAR1quTux-z7tCuej8ppYwBDZIp-8kdeo-ainU970qIJHqZ6sm2uMXMZGjQo

Glad to see homeschooling on the rise. Education needs to be taken out of the hands of the government. The worst homeschool is better than the best public school. P.S. public school online classes is not homeschooling, it's public schooling at home.
True. My granddaughter had to finish up this past year doing said home public schooling. Hated it.

Before, the Experts were telling us that kids don't suffer from this virus like the elderly. Yes, but they still can die. As parent, do you want that to happen, and then have to deal with violent kids whose parents don't want them at home anyway!
Correct me if I'm reading you wrong, HO but more kids die from influenza every year than Covid will ever cause. Past and present data already has proven it. Schools nonetheless do not close down for flu. So it can't be concern about the kids that is preventing reopening. I agree it is dangerous to send them to government schools, just not because of Wuhan virus.

Due to this Wuhan Lab Flu virus, how many kids are being schooled at home, tho' still under tight control of their local school system. And I wonder how many of those kids' parents have chosen to go the True Homeschooling Route, using materials from some other place than their school system.
In many areas, parents have to decide soon what will happen in the fall--have their kids go back to the school bldgs, or just stay home, or a mix of the two.

An excellent speech, almost a sermon, by the Lord Chief Justice passing sentence on the pirate Stede Bonnet in the early 1700s.
www.gutenberg.org/files/40580/40580-h/40580-h.htm

Final remarks: "I only heartily wish, that what, in Compassion to your Soul, I have now said to you upon this sad and solemn Occasion, by exhorting you in general to Faith and Repentance, may have that due Effect upon you, that thereby you may become a true Penitent. And therefore having now discharged my Duty to you as a Christian, by giving you the best Counsel I can, with respect to the Salvation of your Soul, I must now do my Office as a Judge. The Sentence that the Law hath appointed to pass upon you for your Offences, and which this Court doth therefore award, is,

That you, the said Stede Bonnet, shall go from hence to the Place from whence you came, and from thence to the Place of Execution, where you shall be hanged by the Neck till you are dead.
And the God of infinite Mercy be merciful to your Soul."

BTW, the chapter on Bonnet makes clear he was not some poor sap who got in with a bad crowd, but an educated person.
