Catholic Church lobbied for taxpayer funds, got $1.4B
The U.S. Roman Catholic Church used a special and unprecedented exemption from federal rules to amass at least $1.4 billion in taxpayer-backed coronavirus aid, with many millions going to dioceses that have paid huge settlements or sought bankruptcy protection because of clergy sexual abuse cover-ups.

The church’s haul may have reached -- or even exceeded -- $3.5 billion, making a global religious institution with more than a billion followers among the biggest winners in the U.S. government’s pandemic relief efforts, an Associated Press analysis of federal data released this week found.

Houses of worship and faith-based organizations that promote religious beliefs aren’t usually eligible for money from the U.S. Small Business Administration. But as the economy plummeted and jobless rates soared, Congress let faith groups and other nonprofits tap into the Paycheck Protection Program, a $659 ...

The Traditionalist Catholics are horrified by this and have exposed the shenanigans of these bishops, who actually literally bankrupt their own dioceses, and cover up and in some notorious cases actually practice sexual abuse,

I sometimes look at Traditionalist Catholic websites for research purposes. These are the real Catholics, whom we as evangelicals oppose on the lines that we did at the Reformation. These folks, however, have the integrity of actually believing and practicing Catholic doctrine. They hate Pope Francis with a passion, and the modern Catholic Church since Vatican 2 in the 1960’s, and they have exposed this duplicity by their modernist bishops, who believe exactly the same as the liberal modernist mainline Protestant church leaders. The majority of Catholic bishops in places like the USA, Canada, UK, and many European countries, actually reject many of the traditional Catholic doctrines, and led by people lke the now disgraced and laicised former Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, (formerly Cardinal Archbishop of Washington DC, a known homosexual who abused seminarians), openly defy many of the doctrines of their own church, approve of or even practice LGBT, wink at abortion and divorce with remarriage, espouse environmentalism and interfaith, and along with liberal feminist nuns, Marxist rhetoric and “goddess” worship, (and I am not talking here about the traditional Marian worship, rightly opposed by evangelical Protestants, but also the full blown New Age pagan version).

Former Vice President Joe Biden on Thursday denounced the Hyde Amendment, which bars federal dollars from being used for abortion. His abrupt reversal — as recently as Wednesday, Biden’s campaign had reaffirmed his long-standing support for the rule — thrust the Democratic frontrunner into the middle of the abortion debate. The position drew intense criticism this week from members of his own party and put him at odds with the national Democratic Party platform.

Biden pointed to intensified efforts by Republican lawmakers to chip away at or overturn Roe this year as reason for his change of heart, but made clear he makes “no apologies for the last position.”

A number of other 2020 candidates have said they would repeal the Hyde Amendment, although most of the contenders who serve in Congress have also voted for it when it was attached to larger funding bills.
The former vice president’s about-face on the Hyde amendment is not the first time he has revised his position on abortion. A devout Roman Catholic who served for more than three decades in the Senate, Biden has long been personally opposed to abortion, and his record in Congress reflected his misgivings about the procedure.

There is nothing to worry about the Hyde amendment.

SARAH FERRIS and HEATHER CAYGLE wrote:
House Democrats will keep a decades-old ban on government funding for abortion in spending bills this year, dodging an election-year clash with Republicans and disappointing liberal lawmakers and activists.

Senior Democrats had been considering scrapping the so-called Hyde amendment, which has restricted federal funding for most abortion services since 1976, amid a hard push from the party’s left flank.

Houses of worship and faith-based organizations that promote religious beliefs aren’t usually eligible for money from the U.S. Small Business Administration. But as the economy plummeted and jobless rates soared, Congress let faith groups and other nonprofits tap into the Paycheck Protection Program, a $659 billion fund created to keep Main Street open and Americans employed.

Religious groups persuaded the Trump administration to free them from a rule that typically disqualifies an applicant with more than 500 workers. Without this preferential treatment, many Catholic dioceses would have been ineligible because -- between their head offices, parishes and other affiliates -- their employees exceed the 500-person cap.

Above are from the article.

So much for the separation of church and state. Now I can say my tax dollars pays for abortions and providing for satan’s church, etc.etc.etc.

A sign that welfare is so comprehensive now, even the Roman Church-State can cash in.

The Welfare State is a thieving, destructive, wasteful corruption of the Biblical doctrine of charity which, like opium, more often destroys than relieves its clientele. It has served Progressives well in expanding their constituencies, for what beneficiary would ever vote for a candidate supporting its contraction? This unsustainable Open Loop of "free" gov't benefits and the expansion of voters depending on it are like a Black Hole which cosmologists tell us irreversibly sucks in everything near it.

I think Progressives want to expand suffrage to illegal immigrants since the "well" of potential welfare clients among citizens is drying up. The immigrant vote agenda is like political "fracking."
