Appeals court judges threaten 'contact tracing' for religious services
The conflict between the constitutional right to assemble and worship in churches and health officials' demands that people not gather in groups has been stark in many cases.

Dozens of fights have erupted as churches insist they have a constitutional right to exercise their religion, and government bureaucrats say no.

One prominent war over the issue has been going on in Illinois, where Gov. Jay Pritzker ordered no churches could have services involving more than 10 people, an order he later made a recommendation. ...

Contact tracing might be a good thing for the local church to determine how effective the members are at coming into contact with non-Christians in order to share the gospel.
Aren't there signs on the inside of church doors that say "Your Mission Field Starts Here" to remind members that when they leave the church sanctuary, they are entering the mission field?

Even as this article was written in March, many states were relaxing there restrictions on church meetings. If your area is relatively germ-free, I would suppose that church meetings would be okay. Restrictions are loosening❗👍🛐
How big-hearted of you, Jim. But it's not up to the Supreme Court due to authority limits. There is no balance to be sought between liberty and the no longer existing (if it ever did) "public health crisis". It's up to the people how safe they want to be. It's up to the people how much risk they are willing to take in order to live the life they've been granted. You have to start at the right starting point, or you will understand nothing. I took a chance and drove my car at 50 mph yesterday. I could have been killed! I could have driven at 20, just to be safe but I risked it and went faster. That's how life is, start dealing with it, or stay home listening to experts explain why breathing is bad for you.

John Inazu wrote:
What is a church to do in the time of the coronavirus pandemic? For many religious traditions, gathering for worship is not just a friendly suggestion. Some Jewish practices require groups of 10. Muslims consider Friday’s congregational prayer one of their most important. Catholics celebrate the Eucharist together during Mass. As the German Lutheran theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote in 1930, “A Christian who stays away from the assembly is a contradiction in terms.”

And yet, for the time being at least, mass gatherings are fueling a public-health crisis, and many state and local authorities are banning gatherings of 50 or more people....
