Back in March, Trump envisioned teeming churches for Easter Sunday, even as the number of coronavirus cases swelled in the US. In the thick of the pandemic’s first wave, his suggestion ignited swift backlash and ridicule.
And yet, in late May, Trump echoed his previous statements when he proposed that houses of worship be given the go-ahead ‚Äúto open right now, for this weekend‚ÄĚ. In an assertion that baffled legal experts, who challenged whether the president commanded such unchecked authority, Trump claimed he would ‚Äúoverride‚ÄĚ governors who ignored his call.
‚ÄúSome governors have deemed liquor stores and abortion clinics as essential, but have left out churches and other houses of worship,‚ÄĚ Trump said at the time. ‚ÄúIt‚Äôs not right, so I‚Äôm correcting this injustice and calling houses of worship essential.‚ÄĚ

Thank you so much, Brother FYI, for remimding me of that wonderful resource. I had no idea they were on SA. And thank you for sharing that particular lesson. Today has been very busy, so I would imagine that prayer for the Lord's will to be done in conjunction with His glory with our confession of sin and supplication is the point? If so, I stand rebuked.
Mike Gendron wrote: Many former Catholics have described their experience of going to weekly Mass as a prison sentence, something they had to do in order to avoid the penalty of a serious sin. Others remember it as a mindless ritual of standing, sitting, kneeling and reciting as the priest performed his religious duties. There are many practicing Catholics who feel the same way but are bound by the laws of their church to attend church every week: "On Sundays and other holy days of obligation the faithful are bound to participate in the Mass" (paragraph 2180 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church). With this law so explicit and demanding, the question that begs an answer is: Why is participation so compulsory for Catholics? The answers are complex, controversial and authoritative....

I've heard that in the South Florida area, Catholic churches were allowed to open already. But not anyone else. Makes you wonder about power they have. And they are the largest church in the country, so we are talking about a lot of people, and many are elderly, so imagine the risks they are taking.

Up in the night watches, I listened to a teaching given in conjunction with I book I am reading,'Godly Prayer And Its Answers' by J.B. of Wamphray.
I believe the church which is one, holy, catholic (meaning universal) Church is neither Roman, nor papist. That visible church is being corrected by God's holy, wise, and powerful, preserving and governing of all his creatures and all their actions. Concerning his children however, he is correcting them in Fatherly love for their former negligence of 1st table duties due Him.
Listening to https://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=1126191416242357 and being corrected and instructed, several posters here that the LORD in his mercy has used for my good in isolation (which for me began long before Covid) You, James T, and Carl..NC came to mind. It is my prayer for you all to God, that at this time & beginning with yourselves in your households, that what is explained in this study & proved in Scripture would be for your blessing, the neglect of which will bring the rod. God knows you, I cannot. I barely know my own heart.
What I read of the article focused on RC churches. The point was that the Presidents insistence on upholding the First Amendment's guarantee that government shall not interfere with religion would be upheld was something misapplied as many parishiners didnt want to go anyway. Neither gave a full picture of the situation.
Even if some people would choose to stay away based on personal risk factors or mass hysteria, some do not wish to refrain from such peaceful assemblies for the purpose of glorifying the Lord and learning more of Him. They have been terribly mistreated.
