Since the start of the pandemic, there have been increased reports of rat cannibalism and infanticide in New York, as well as more rat complaints in residential areas ‚ÄĒ including in Chicago ‚ÄĒ as humans produce more food waste at home. Roving rat armies, including one caught on camera scavenging New Orleans‚Äô empty streets, are concerning to the CDC, which says rodents can carry disease.
The CDC advises home and business owners to cover garbage cans, put bird and pet food out of reach and seal small holes rodents could access in buildings. If people follow established cleaning guidelines, they can avoid exposure to rodent-borne diseases, according to the agency.
‚ÄúSome jurisdictions have reported an increase in rodent activity as rodents search for new sources of food,‚ÄĚ the CDC said. ‚ÄúEnvironmental health and rodent control programs may see an increase in service requests related to rodents and...
CDC says rodents carry disease. Who knew? CDC says increased rodent aggressiveness and cannibalism and "infanticide" is caused by more food waste at home. Hmmm. One might think more food available would bring about less cannibalism and eating of their young, but I'm not an expert. Are the folks eating at home tossing their food scraps out the window? And here I thought garbage pickup was deemed essential. CDC also says some "jurisdictions have reported an increase in rodent activity as rodents seek new sources is food." Sure gets confusing, what with rodents finding more food and looking for more food because they can't find enough. Maybe the closed down restaurants were tossing their food scraps out the window, and that's why the poor rats are roving the streets now. Sounds like a movie plot. Fiction of course.
I most certainly agree, there will be a moment when after these pending storms, someone or something will bring about the catch phrase - ‚Äúpeace and safety‚ÄĚ and people will be tired and worn thin by war, pestilence , storms and earth quakes .. and then the ‚Äú champion ‚Äú , whether it be man or government. will step forward A good analysis on how China has worked to assuage the anxiety in Europe is telling during the taste of things to come is in due order. Or worse, how China could destroy the 3th Fleet and we would no longer be a navy unimpeded to go wherever we desired.
.22 will leave a dent in about anything, Wayfarer. I remember, back when I was very young, probably 3 or 4, seeing the .22 cal. gun shot wound in the forearm of a man who sought treatment at the town doctor. The nurse must have sensed that the man with his friend had been up to no good, and sent them to the closest ER about 20 miles away.
While the stopping power of a larger caliber is preferable when confronting larger and more dangerous animals and entities, I can see the benefit in the very light recoil and fast target acquisition of .22 short. We used to use that for collegiate competative shooting.
But more to the point, thus is starting to look like a foretaste of the fourth seal with a quarter of the earth's population killed by disease or beasts or famine or war. All sorts of things are happening.
