NYC Churches Pray God Will Bring Many to Jesus in This Crisis
Torrey Harper, pastor, and senior director at Global Prayer Room in Times Square is in the epicenter of the coronavirus crisis. He told CBN News that groups of people are praying online together three times a day and God is shielding them in the midst of this difficult situation.
"Hope is rising, even in the midst of tragedy - this is an invitation to prayer," Harper said. "This an invitation from God...He is not the author of the virus but I believe He will get glory in the midst of this."
Harper explained that the challenging times have been overwhelming and many are fearful, but there is hope....
Brother Mike, For some unknown reason i felt the need to check sa news site for any possible news. It's only happened today and the other day. My heart goes out to you, I will be earnestly praying for your family mate, I'm so sorry. I'll go again now mate but my email is attached if you need to talk my friend. God bless
Not only that, Mike, but you'll likely be quarantined by local authorities once you arrive at your destination out-of-state. Those NY tags make you a target, even if your county has only a handful of cases.
Chrisgp, I believe my grandson would have been 27 yesterday. Could be a bit younger. We cannot go in person to provide comfort to my daughter and family, as they are out of State. What with the various governors' newly imagined authority, and the continued hyping, we're stuck for now.
Dear Mike, Sorry to hear about your grandson. You didn’t say how old he was, but I got the impression that he was quite young. I will pray for you and your family.
As to New York City itself,I have heard some very stirring and challenging sermons of Pastor David Wilkerson, now with the Lord after a car accident some years ago, who founded and pastored the Times Square Church, but who rejected the prosperity gospel and entertainment gospel, and preached holiness and reverence for God. He actually warned the Western nations of coming judgment, and in one of his sermons he spoke about the possibility of a coming pandemic and its effects!!
As for Mayor de Blasio, as I understand your US Constitution, he does not surely have the author to close churches permanently, possibly only to ban them from meeting in city council owned premises, and I am not sure he has the total authority to do that, at least if this Coronavirus emergency passes.
Sorry for your loss, Mike. A quote from Scottish Pastor Samuel Rutherford. “Let your children be as so many flowers, borrowed from God.If the flowers die or wither, thank God for a summer loan of them”. Praying God’s comfort for you and yours.
Mike wrote: Suffice it to say the Lord gives and the Lord takes away. When he is ready to send a plague, it won't be the wimpy covid19. What we are seeing in the response is what fear of death among unbelievers can generate. Some here may remember a request a couple years ago for prayer for my grandson, who had a rare incurable cancer. He lost that round yesterday. I would appreciate prayer for my daughter and son in law and family in our shared grief, that in this time the Lord might draw them closer to himself and each other. We are not allowed to go and be with them, not because of the virus, but because of that fear of death that imprisons so many.
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, dear brother Mike. Prayers for you and your family.

God does not need a pandemic, as an excuse to bring the elect to salvation. Don't these Arminians/Liberals know GOD has a plan and a purpose for HIS sheep WHOM HE KNOWS. John 10:3,4.
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that NOT OF YOURSELVES: it is the gift of God: 9 NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast. 10 For WE ARE HIS workmanship, created IN CHRIST JESUS unto good works, which God hath BEFORE ORDAINED that we should walk in them."
Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are THE CALLED according to HIS PURPOSE. 29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified."
Mike wrote: Thank you to all my "kin" in the Lord. Very much appreciated. A reminder to me that, though we may have differing views on different subjects, there is a time when those differences seem small when compared to what we share.
Sure, Mike. It is the bond of Christ that unite us, and the tint/strand of indwelling flesh that still occasionally divides us.
Thinking of you, in the confidence that the One pitying us from heaven and interceding for us in glory will be your eternal stead at this critical time.

I'm sorry to hear that, Mike. May Christ give you and all of your family comfort.

Yes, that too, Quiet Brother. But the inspiration for keeping God from being denounced as "the bad guy" is to have him as the lover of the whole world, not wishing anyone to perish but that every man in the whole world should be saved, this being the will of God, as all Arminians will declare. That way, he must be "a good guy", loving all men equally, and getting himself in a sweat when evil folks die without Christ.
In reality, it is only the Doctrines of Grace people who see God as he really is, an awesome, all consuming fire, rather than a weak, long-bearded old man who wouldn't hurt a fly.
Thank you to all my "kin" in the Lord. Very much appreciated. A reminder to me that, though we may have differing views on different subjects, there is a time when those differences seem small when compared to what we share.
John 3:31 He who comes from above is above all. He who is from the earth belongs to the earth and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all.
John 3:36 One who believes in the Son has eternal life, but one who disobeys the Son won’t see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.”
James 3:15-17 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, and demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
May the Lord bring comfort to the family of Mike, in their time of grieving. May the presence of the Lord, through His Word, bring hope, through ones access they have in & through Christ Alone. In what a Faithful Friend Christ is to us, despite the difficult seasons of life, we go through. O’ How precious Jesus is to lead one too Him, as being a refuge & shelter in all storms & seasons of life amen!
We live & die; Christ died & lived! John Stott

So sorry for your loss, Brother Mike. Will certainly be praying for you, your wife, your daughter, and your son in law.
Brother John, you captured quite well what I was trying to say about those churches and their leaders. I wouldn't necessarily lay this error at the foot or Arminius but generalized theological liberalism. They made a god of their own imagination.
