Pastor apologizes for holding open services
“Please believe me when I say it was not out of arrogance or defiance, but solely for the purpose of praying for our churches, communities, and nation,” Pastor Tom Walters wrote in a post to Word of Life’s Facebook page.

In speaking with congregants on Sunday, Walters said that the national reaction to the coronavirus pandemic, which has infected around 43,000 Americans and killed nearly 460 as of Monday, “could possibly be, disguised in everything else, a direct attack on the church.’” The global death toll is nearly 16,500. ...

And God is so good to regenerate all those who put their faith in the finished work of Christ alone for salvation! (Ephesians 2:1-9)

Amen NeedHim, dead in trespasses.

Conversion through regeneration is a beautiful thing.

The anti-Christian brigade are really enjoying this pandemic. They can attack the churches and stop all the meetings, thereby in their little brain cells dishonour God.

Its such a sad thing to observe that these reprobates are going to hell and damnation partly for their ignorance and blindness.

2Peter 2:10 But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.

v12 But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;"

Chris GP, I just didn't have the space to point out this also about Pastor Hecht's comment
Pastor Scott Hecht wrote:

One of the recommendations made today is that younger generations could help with our older generations.  The help would be that those in most danger from the virus would not need to get out into stores where they might possibly catch something.

We want to do what we can do as a church both to help those in our church family who might be at more high risk and to help our neighbors here in Lincoln.

With that in mind, first, if we can get groceries or run some errands for you and get these things for you so you can stay inside, we’d like help as we’re able.  Please contact either Pastor Scott or our benevolence deacon, Eldon Stanley, for help in these areas.

Second, would you consider being available to run errands like this to help with those in need -- to get groceries or to pick up medications for those for whom it might be best that they not get out?  Obviously, this would be only if you are in very good health yourself!  But this could be a great way to serve....

The rule of law and government are often at odds with each other. That's why there are lawful and lawless laws.

Dear Gay, and Mr Lincoln,

The fact that churches have not been exempted in this international Coronavirus lockdown quarantine, raises questions, when in times past, that was often not the case.

In fact, churches were at the heart of it, helping and ministering even though it was very dangerous. Spurgeon himself went on a campaign of visitation and ministry in the middle of a cholera epidemic in London in the 1860’s or thereabouts, and churches were open for days of fasting and prayer.

I do wonder, if, God willing, this current terrible trial and judgment burns itself out, the old freedoms we have in supposedly democratic countries, will ever be fully restored. We must pray, and cry unto the Lord. Maybe He will indeed turn many people to Himself in repentance and faith, despite churches being closed, just through the Word of God, and the drawing of the Holy Spirit.

All the while Planned Parenthood has been twitting out in how they are open for business!

May Christ strengthen & encourage His people to be light among darkness, to be doers & hearers. As no one escapes their day of death, as 10 out of 10 die, either in Christ or out of Christ.

No hand sanitizer, can cleanse one eternally clean, than the Blood of Christ Alone amen!

Phil 3:8-10 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, & count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ & be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him & the power of His resurrection, & the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,

shutting down the churches is an act of God, yet some Churches refused to be humbled by the scourge of God, did not God say we were to follow the government and rule of law? Closing down for a short time would have been the signal for Pastors to go introspective and discover the falling away that is in each church and combat that .....

this Pastor refused the rod of God across his back
i embrace that rod because He gives succor, He has mercy and pity and gives us succor~!

During Reformation days, as the black plague was ravaging Europe, when the Magistrate would call for churches to cancel services to avoid its spread, Christians would comply with these requests.[1]

And also from early church history, Christians have been known as those who have helped those who have been in need.

Based on our Christian heritage and more importantly based on God’s word, which calls us to love our neighbor as ourselves -- and the parable of the Good Samaritan which Jesus gave to illustrate who our “neighbor” is (Luke 10:25-37), we want to do everything that we can do as a church to help at this time....

Neither did those medieval/Reformation Christians who obeyed the civil magistrate, when the magistrate ordered evacuations because of the plague or when gatherings were banned bec (sic} of the outbreak of plague” https://twitter.com/RScottClark/status/1239259313232732160.

I still believe that as I stated in another thread in SA News Comment, the churches should not have been interfered with, except to require strict precautions, such as distancing in the church, no handshakes or physical hugs, older, frail and vulnerable people staying away, as well as those who believe they are infected with the virus, live-streaming made available as well as a physical service, cancellation of all conferences, all social events which were not religious services of worship, use of disposable single cups for communion, and bread broken up, etc, before the service, and I guess, because of outsiders being involved, cancellation of Sunday schooos, etc.

However, at the end of the day, if the state required a church to close down, for medical reasons of public safety, (but not for religious reasons), a church has no alternative but to comply.

What I do find disgraceful, is the glee of some leftist politicians in closing churches, and the zealous willingness of liberal churches to close down, and the lack of any debate in parliaments, congresses, and city halls, to challenge some of these things as they are being rushed through. I have also noticed the zeal if police to enforce these things, with draconian fines, threats of prison, as we have seen in continental lo
