PCUSA leaders urge Seattle churches to cancel worship over coronavirus
A Washington State-based regional body of Presbyterian Church (USA) is encouraging congregations in the Seattle area to cancel in-person worship services due to the coronavirus.

The Presbytery of Seattle posted a letter to its website last Friday that was signed by the Reverends Eliana Maxim and Scott Lumsden, the co-executive presbyters of the regional body. The leadership of the presbytery stated that it was “time to cancel regular worship” due to the recently reported cases of coronavirus in the state.

“Eliana and I, as pastoral leaders in this presbytery lament this conclusion, but believe in our hearts that it's in the best interest of our community, our neighbors, our parishioners, our family, and our friends,” they stated. ...

"coronavirus" is preventing the spread of Liberalism and abomination indoctrination.

Good idea about Prednisone. Gluvosamine MSM works but not right away. My arthritis knows if I miss a couple of days. But I'm not pain free just thru its use.

Yes, I know about GP and their try this try that approach. Our son is in the medical field so he steers us in the right direction and keeps us from taking useless meds.
The natural supplements are fine to take once you get the inflammation down and in control, but really are of no benefit when you are suffering from severe pain.IMHO.

John, I would strongly urge that you ask your health care provider for some prednisone. The pain is almost relieved within a day or so. My elderly Dad was prescribed it and felt relief from his severe joint pain within a day.
Opioids do nothing for this type of pain and cause more harm than good.
Thanks MS, I will ask about that next time I go to see the GP. The major problem I find with GP's is that they tell you to try one thing, and if that doesn't work to go back and they will give you something else to try. It hardly inspires confidence in them.

Adding this story to the one from Barna's group showing church attendance has been going down, makes you wonder...how many people are we talking about here? Presbyterians in general are not the US's largest denomination--the Baptists have them beat hands down. Then, to reduce that P group down to just the most liberal ones, the ones in this news item, is to be talking about a very small number, maybe less than a couple thousand people total.
It could be that Seattle, one of the most liberal areas in the US, does have more liberal Presbyterians than places like Nashville, or Birmingham, and maybe even more of them than Baptists.

My grateful thanks to contributions from Quiet Brother, MS and Adriel. I have never experienced anything quite like it, for reducing everyday chores to a comical farce. At least when I have a migraine, everything stops. With this, everything takes about ten times longer to accomplish, and not without pain in the doing of it.

But if you are suffering with this also, I empathise, and I still believe that all things work together for good, even when I can't immediately see any good coming from it.

Yes I have tried some of the things mentioned. And a kind sister at yesterday's fellowship meeting had brought me a bottle of a supplement called "Glucosamine, Chondroitin & MSM". It was another 6 hour meeting, that is three in a row now. I've never known anything like it in all my time as a Christian on pilgrimage. Praise God!

And may God bless all suffering saints.

Are you taking your daily dose of Omega 3 and Glucosamine, John?

John, we also suffer from severe joint pain and are very sympathetic towards your plight.
I went the natural route of tart black cherry juice or supplements, turmeric and also topical Voltaren Gel which I believe is available in the UK over the counter.
These are helpful, but the pain can be quite severe and a low dosage of prednisone which is a steroid was prescribed for the flare ups.
This helps with inflammation and pain, but should only be used short term as there are side effects, as alas there are with nearly all medicines.
Hope this info. is helpful and you find some relief.

Brother John, I am concerned for the long term use of Naproxin or Ibuprofen. Would it be possible for you to seek out a more natural remedy like Tumeric or Arnica (topical only, in my opinion)?

Yes, I realize that you sought them out. But you must have sought them out originally for vaccinations. From your earlier posts, it would seem that a reaction has caused inflammation that has not subsided.

We will certainly be praying! There is a Great Physician as I posted earlier, and He provides healing of all sorts.

Brother John, are you now having to take narcotics on top of NAIDS? We need to pray more. What have those foul fiends in the NHS done to you!?!
Actually, they are very nice people who are responding to my request as best they can, to relieve the pains I am experiencing. It is I who went to them, not them to me.

As it happens, the Codeine is not being beneficial, so after today I will revert to the Naproxen, which does at least lessen the pain and enables me to sleep better.

If you or anyone else from SA is praying for me, let me tell you that I appreciate it, and hope for better days from the Lord. Maybe if there is a particular reason for the infirmity, which needs dealing with by, say, repentance, I would very much like folks to pray that the Lord would impress that clearly upon my soul, lest I miss it through dullness of mind, cloth ears, or some such thing.

On the topic at hand, tough call really. Seeing as it is the PCUSA, perhaps that is limiting their sin? But we have known churches to cancel services due to hazardous weather conditions; no one wants an elderly person to slip and fall on ice, for instance. No one would want that same elderly attendee to contract the novovirus. Is there a way to provide enough common sense protection without unduly putting attendees in harm's way? Worship with masks & gloves? Might be reasonable to do so:

* The Great Physician should be the one called upon for the sick by the church.

* The light of regular worship in dark times can be part of what the Lord uses to draw people to Himself.

"Sorry God, it's just getting too dangerous to worship you in a corporate setting, so we're just going to have to stay home and praise the Lord."

"God, I know I shouldn't forsake the assembling of myself together with others, but needs must, you know."

"God, I know souls are perishing for lack of knowledge, but at least I'm saved, and I don't want to die just yet."

"God, I do hope you understand."

Sample prayers from the PCUSA leader's manual produced quickly as a result of the virus outbreak.

And then I awoke, and behold, it was all a dream, brought on by the Codeine tablets I've been given to control the pain in my joints.
