In the middle of an otherwise peaceful Thursday afternoon, my phone and Facebook newsfeed lit up simultaneously with something that I thought was impossible at this point: yet more surprising PCA-related news out of St. Louis, Missouri. Memorial Presbyterian Church (PCA), the host church of the first Revoice Conference, has recently opened its doors to activities even further beyond the pale of PCA faith and practice than Revoice. Though Todd Pruitt and Denny Burk have done fine work in summarizing the essence of the controversy in their respective blog posts, the relevant details are worth rehearsing as we consider here Memorial PCA’s immediate response to the online uproar.
The event in question is called Transluminate, which according to the website of sponsoring organization The Q Collective, “is a short-play festival and celebration of transgender, agender, non-binary, genderqueer, and...
Liberalism is a demonic expression of darkness, ignorance and UNBiblical ideologies.
PCUSA has now presented itself as a shame and embarrassment to all that is Christian.
But with nations, governments and churches turning to Liberalism, Sodom and Gomorrah, transvestite filth, we see the increase of reprobate hearts and minds rebelling from GOD and all that's decent in humanity. These are dark, apostate and demonic times for the human race.
Come Lord Jesus, Come Soon.
So called trans-gender is simply an example of satanic sinful abominations in a growing insidious and increasingly wicked fallen world.
GOD has warned man of His wrath of their sinful hearts, minds and ways...... GOD will punish all who disobey HIS doctrines. Lev 18:24 Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you: 25 And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants."
Man 'defiles' his lands his earth and he will pay the price of his actions.
Matt 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold." ........... then shall the end come."
I just listened to a great message by David Wilkerson entitled: Last Days Deception.
It concerns the false gospel of the seeker-sensitive movement, which allows for the benefits of the cross without the reality of dying with Christ and being raised with Christ.
A good Baptist ought to know all about this, as it is the whole message of baptism in water: dead with Christ, buried with Christ, raised with Christ. Naturally, the symbolism requires immersion.
But David Wilkerson maintains that this secondary aspect of the cross is being forgotten deliberately, so as to embrace as many people as possible, not calling on them to forsake sin, leaving them where they are, not taking holiness seriously; in other words, a weird form of antinomianism.
David calls it a false gospel, and it is producing mega churches, which are no churches at all. It is a very impassioned message, worthwhile listening to.
Thank you, SA, for staying on top of this situation and highlighting it. Perhaps the light of day on this will encourage repentance and healing, but ultimately it will be the Lord who brings this denomination, as a whole, back to Him.
Presbyterian polity is a study unto itself. There are still quite a number under the overall heading of "Presbyterian" and an increasing nbr of denominations as more churches leave the main line PCUSA but also the increasingly liberal PCA.
This story is about a church in the center of the "side-B" debate within the PCA but our brothers in the SBC are paying attention as well. This church and its pastor/teaching elder (TE) are at the vanguard of support for unrepentant LGBTQ+ attendees, claiming that their lust isn't sin. They hosted the Revoice Conference a year or so ago.
While there are places more devoid of good churches, it breaks my heart to see the demise of the PCA. I came to faith in a small PCA church.
This is such a tiny incident that it makes you wonder why it even makes the news. But, when you think of the main issue being a 'hot button' for many people, you can see why they ran it, to get more clicks and thus more advertising on their website. I think Presbyterians make up a very small amount of Christians in the US. Baptists are first, then maybe Methodists are next, etc.
Dr. Tim wrote: Brother John, Wales has had revival before, and if God’s people are willing to humble themselves, and pray, and seek God’s face, and turn from their wicked ways (II Chronicles 7:14), God is certainly able to send revival again, “for there is no restraint to the LORD to save by many or by few.” Our Father’s strength is made perfect in our own weakness, so “...let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
Sadly, there is no desire to do these things, bro. It would take a sovereign visitation of the Almighty to accomplish such a wholesale turning to him in repentance. This is why my evangelism is no longer local, I believe. The Lord has me witnessing in a place where people are responding. Jesus calls them "fields white unto harvest".
During the Cold War, ( that’s when the Soviet Union Red army could pour 6500 mechanized rifle companies into the Fulda Gap in Germany and the only thing we could do would be to use a tactical nuc on the western portion of Germany to stop them. ) Most Churches, understood godlessness. They knew the dangers of the sinister view of liberalism in the church. But now, why be a Christian if you’re not for Christ but against Him.
Brother John, Wales has had revival before, and if God’s people are willing to humble themselves, and pray, and seek God’s face, and turn from their wicked ways (II Chronicles 7:14), God is certainly able to send revival again, “for there is no restraint to the LORD to save by many or by few.” Our Father’s strength is made perfect in our own weakness, so “...let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
Made my head spin trying to work out from the article exactly what is going on here. But whatever it is, it sure does not look good.
Quiet Brother, you should try living in Wales and looking about for a half-decent church (that is, a group of disciples of Jesus Christ who wish to be disciples of Jesus Christ and who prove that by their efforts to obey him).
Only yesterday, I looked at a conservative evangelical Christian news website, and discovered the following news items, taken not from “liberal mainline Protestant churches”, (you know, the sort that denied the Bible years ago, practising the social gospel, and are into every kind of apostate activity imaginable), but professing evangelical churches.
One was of a large and active church, that had a very well known member, a happily heterosexually married man, who led a well known addiction and counselling ministry. His wife died, and now after a few years, he has suddenly apostatised, and come out as “gay”, and “married” a man, whom he said God had given him!!
Another was of an Assemblies of God church, where after a series of questionable sermons preached by the pastor, and a lesbian couple approaching him and being welcomed into the church, the elders turned the church into an open LGBTQ affirming church!! The AOG, to its credit, threw the church out of its denomination immediately.
Sad article but appreciate the Prof from Greenville Presbyterian. Theological Seminary digging into this.
The biggest question is where is the Missouri Presbytery? They have already defended self-proclaimed "gay-Christian" TE Greg Johnson to the point other presbyteries are calling for General Assembly to take over the case against Johnson. And the Prof wonders why the Session upheld the use of their building for an LGBTQ festival. Realtively minor considering their pastor.
What really happening is that conservatives like my family & I are looking elsewhere, outside the PCA. We don't fit anymore.
