47 Percent of Mainline Pastors Now Support Same-Sex Marriage
Nearly half of mainline pastors say they back same-sex marriage, although support among evangelical pastors remains low, according to a new LifeWay Research survey.
The poll of 1,000 pastors found that 47 percent of mainline pastors say they âsee nothing wrong with two people of the same gender getting married.â Thatâs an increase from 2010, when 32 percent of mainline pastors answered that way.
Among evangelical pastors, though, only 8 percent support same-sex marriage â the same percentage from 2010.
When combining the two groups, 24 percent of Protestant pastors back same-sex marriage, according to the survey....
About when did mainline denominations reform themselves away from the gospel? When did they reform themselves away from a substitutary atonement of Christâs death on the cross and for whom? I remember a local Episcopalian priest explain that God was a God of love, and nothing would change that- he loved you in spite of you sins, even if that means you stay in your sins. Thus celebrating you meant celebrating all of you. Basically, he and mainline denominations have negated the gospel for a rainbow flag of â donât worry be happy â.
Dr Tim does have a point though... how can you be so ignorant of the scriptures and call yourself a Christian? How could we truly love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and not bother to read and meditate on His Words?
Mr Lincoln, Politicians are nothing but inflated, pompous, windbags strutting their lostness like roosters in the chicken run...
I believe that God expects better from the elder/pastor/shepherd of His House, than He does of our lost world. Of course, our God is still in control, and everything is under His dominion... from now until Judgement Day!!
Ungodly and shameful, however, too many preachers and pastors are horribly ignorant of God's Word. Sad, pitiful, sinful but not surprising, because of the many lazy, Word-ignorant men in today's pulpits. God's true Word is now, more and more, being compromised every day. People, real Christians, need to get out of these false churches and stop listening and being led by these ungodly, greedy preachers and their sermons from HELL! Yes, most of them I've found, are greedy, too.
Well, Doc... I would suggest that they arenât all lost. Many are just misguided and ignorant of the Scripturesâthey have learned at the feet of those that are ignorant and misguided, and spew the same nonsense.
This is most encouraging, if it is to do with the general falling away spoken of in the NT, as a precursor to the endtimes, or even part of the endtimes. It seems that every year, another denomination falls flat on its face, ready to die or dead already.
It's not only mainline Protestant preachers who support homosexuality, but also Republican politicians.
Heather Clark wrote: .... According to Log Cabin Republicansâ website, the organization claims that âequality for LGBT Americans is in the finest tradition of the Republican Party.â
âWe educate our party about why inclusion wins. Opposing gay and lesbian equality is inconsistent with the GOPâs core principles of smaller government and personal freedom,â it asserts. âLog Cabin Republicans work to make the Republican Party more inclusive, particularly on gay and lesbian issues. Equality will be impossible to achieve without Republican votes.â
This is not the first time that Trump had acknowledged homosexual citizens. As previously reported, during his RNC acceptance speech in July 2016, Trump told those gathered that he would work to protect homosexuals if elected....
