More Non-Evangelicals Are Calling Themselves Born Again
Just as more Americans are becoming religiously unaffiliated (ānonesā), thereās another major shift happening on the other side of the religious spectrum. More people today say they are āborn againā than at any point in the past three decades.
Some might assume the continued rise of born-again Christians reflects the steady portion of evangelical Protestants in America, while mainline Protestants, who are less likely to call themselves born again, have undergone more rapid decline. But actually, across all Christian traditionsāeven mainline denominations and Catholicsāborn-again identity is trending up....

This is a man made definition, Adriel. Not valid. BTW, the 'confering of grace' comes as a relic from the "dung hill of popery", the second line reformers, say the puritans, would say.
Evangelical protestant We are called to live unto the Lord. The meaning of 'sacred' is to be set apart unto holiness. By this definition then every thing in our lives should be sacred. We should not take that the ordinances are differently made sacred by a mystical hocus pocus of doctrinal imagination or belief which again comes from popery.
Joseph D. Harder wrote: ....Bebbington, in a definition often cited by historians, also includes conversion in his four-fold definition of evangelicalism: āconversionism, the belief that lives need to be changed; activism, the expression of the gospel in effort; biblicism, a particular regard for the Bible; and what may be called crucicentrism, a stress on the sacrifice of Christ on the cross.ā While evangelicals have differed in various particulars, they have shared these characteristics.
Who, then, are āfundamentalistsā? In short, fundamentalism is a sub-type of evangelicalism that developed an emphasis in the early twentieth century on defending what its adherents saw as orthodox Christianity against those who were attempting to āmodernizeā the faith....

Well, Joelāyou are so right. I tried the modern āidentificationā ideology by going to Sams Club. I told them I was identifying as a memberāso I asked them kindly to refer to me as āMember Steveā and that should be good enough. But THEY seem to think that just because I say Iām something, it doesnāt mean I am. Just saying.
AS PUBLICLY STATED BY MYSELF, A TrueHolyBibleChristianCatholic, IN THE OPEN FORUM TRUE HOLY BIBLE STUDY; THIS PAST WEDNESDAY AT THE ORIOLE CHRISTIAN ASSEMBLY, CHICAGO, IL:
"WHETHER YOU WANT TO BELIEVE IT OR NOT; THAT, ALTHOUGH IN THE NEW TESTAMENT OF THE TRUE (KING JAMES) HOLY BIBLE: THERE IS A THREE/3-FOLD DIVISION AS TO HOW GOD/CHRIST VIEWS THE WORLD--THAT IS--ALL OF MANKIND IS DIVIDED INTO THREE/3 SEPARATE &-OR DISTINCT DIVISIONS, GROUPS, PARTS OR 'CAMPS': #1.'THE JEWS', #2.'THE GENTILES' & #3.'THE CHURCH OF GOD':
'GIVE NONE OFFENCE, NEITHER TO THE JEWS, NOR TO THE GENTILES, NOR TO THE CHURCH OF GOD:'--1 CORINTHIANS 10:32
ALBEIT, IN ACTUALITY & IN TRUTH, THE WORLD; THAT IS, ALL HUMAN BEINGS UPON PLANET EARTH: CAN BE CATEGORIZED INTO ONLY ONE/1 OUT OF TWO/2 SEPARATE & DISTINCT GROUPS, CLASSES, CLASSIFICATIONS &-OR 'CAMPS':
#1.THOSE WHO'VE BEEN HOLY-BIBLICALLY/HOLY-SPIRITUALLY 'BORN-AGAIN' ACCORDING TO ST. JOHN 3:1-16.
#2.THOSE WHO'VE NOT BEEN HOLY-BIBLICALLY/HOLY-SPIRITUALLY 'BORN-AGAIN' ACCORDING TO ST. JOHN 3:1-16.
SO, ALL YOU SITTING HERE TODAY ARE EITHER:

"As has been argued in previous chapters, the Protestant doctrine of the church distinguishes between the visible and the invisible church, the former including any congregation or collection of congregations where the Word is rightly preached and the sacraments are rightly administered. As Augustine put it, "There are many sheep without and many wolves within" this visible church. It consists of all baptized Christians and their children who profess the name of Christ, but it is assumed by Protestants that there are many in this visible church who are like the seed that fell on rocky ground or that were choked by weeds. In other words, not everyone who professes the name of Christ has exercised true saving faith. By contrast, the invisible church consists of the full number of the elect of all ages, none of whom may be lost." (M.S. Horton)
2Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of."
It'll probably become even more common with superstars like Kanye West and others like him calling themselves "born-again" (not judging their salvation), that those who follow him will call themselves born-again without even having a basic understanding of it. Sad...
Moore makes a Hasty Generalization, and in any case, what naĆÆve academics like him don't understand is, Christians want rulers who will let them alone, and however flawed Trump may be, he's tons better than Commie Democrats who reward immorality and persecute the righteous.
Besides, Moore constantly pontificates on political issues and endorses "Christian Democracy," a species of Catholic Social Teaching. Sounds like he has transgressed your "political neutrality" doctrine.
Sure you want to popularize this "Dominionist" as a credible source?
Russell Moore wrote: .... The word āevangelicalā has become almost meaningless this year, and in many ways the word itself is at the moment subverting the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Part of the problem is that more secular people have for a long time misunderstood the meaning of āevangelical,ā seeing us almost exclusively in terms of election-year voting blocs or our most buffoonish television personalities. Thatās especially true when media donāt distinguish in election exit polls between churchgoers and those who merely self-identify as āborn againā or āevangelical.ā....
Many of those who tell pollsters they are āevangelicalā may well be drunk right now, and havenāt been into a church since someone invited them to Vacation Bible School sometime back when Seinfeld was in first-run episodes.
The other problem is the behavior of some evangelical leaders. I have watched as some of these who gave stem-winding speeches about ācharacterā in office during the Clinton administration now minimize the spewing of profanities in campaign speeches, race-baiting and courting white supremacists,.....

It has always been the case that multitudes of religious reprobates have not a clue about real Christianity, and would be unable to accurately define biblical terms such as born again, converted, quickened, enlightened, redeemed, propitiation, justified, adopted, sanctified, and on and on.
A new creature in Christ Jesus is born again, born a second time. And thusly are different; they have the Holy Spirit and are filled with love for God and their fellow man.
