Most millennials, Gen Z don’t view marriage, family formation as life goals
New research from Barna reveals that younger generations around the world are more interested in the pursuit of professional success than they are focused on family formation and building a home.
The study, called "The Connected Generation Report," documents findings collected from over 15,000 interviews with young people in both the Gen Z and millennial generations in 25 nations and nine languages.
The nations selected for the study were based on countries and regions where Barna and World Vision receive frequent requests for research-based insights, the researchers noted in the report released Thursday. The survey was offered in English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, German, Romanian, Korean, Indonesian and Taiwanese....
Not good news, but like the other one about more women in the workforce, it is a Matter of Prayer. We live in a world that has no respect for the clear guidelines of the Bible. Instead, they promote their own causes--sodomy, global warming, etc--and criminalize anyone who objects. John Derbyshire noted that a man is serving 16 yrs in prison for having burned a flag that represents the sodomite cause. They object to anyone who suggests that even what secular thinkers said, 'the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world,' is like the Bible's Guidelines for Older Women (1 Timothy 5). Paul used a poet of his day "In him we move, and live and have our being" not to promote that poet but to further his point about who God is.
Marriage and family are Christian and traditional pursuits. This generation is Liberalist and therefore rejects all authorities, traditional institutions and conventional customs.
Sometimes a generation comes along who don't 'know' God...... Judges 2:10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel. 11 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim: 12 And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers,"
Either God has not manifested Himself to this generation; - Or they don't have any interest in divine things.
Since faith is a gift of God and not a human idea, we cannot expect the reprobate is going to seek God on his own.
The nuclear family is the core building block of everything from communities to nations. When the pursuit of self (their god is their bellies) overtakes the normal draw to family, willingly suppressed perhaps, then it won't take long for everything to fall apart.
Consider Psalm 127. Solomon's inspired song lyrics give us a pointer toward a better life than what the hedonist world would have us pursue. But the siren song of the wickedness and self-centeredness is an alluring song indeed, and entire generations are hearing its call instead. May the Lord continue to call His from that generation and put them in paths of righteousness for His own name sake.
