Rutgers professor tells student not to cite the Bible in essays
A Rutgers University-New Brunswick professor told a student that he should not quote Bible verses in essays because of the "separation of church and state," Campus Reform reported.

The professor also added that the Bible "may not be for everyone" and its use in academic papers may be offensive to some, including "a Muslim or Jewish person."

The professor also added that the Bible "may not be for everyone" Really? If the Bible was meant for some and not others, wouldn’t that be the classic act of unfair Divine selectivity? I thank God for His most Holy Word, rejected by me for 40 years, but the next 42 years is my lifeline to Paradise.

Over 150 years ago, the deconstruction of the biblical text began with various upgrades using Westcott and Hort to update “ the authorized version” of the Bible. Couple this with German higher criticism of biblical theology and you too can have a simple local bible college doing the same as Rutgers.
In the 1970’s many a “ called” pastors candidate left southwestern theological seminary having their faith challenged. That began a conservative resurgence in the 1980’s and I fear that it left the building with the scales being tipped towards the southeastern theological seminary and Liberty university. Nothing good can come from a circus when it’s thought to be the best means to educating the man of God

""may not be for everyone" and its use in academic papers may be offensive to some, including "a Muslim or Jewish person""

In fact it is offensive to all Satan's followers and those who are going to hell.

Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."

Then there are the Liberalists - Anglicans/Episcopalians/PCUSA etc etc - who keep deleting verses from the Bible. When they discover that these verses are TRUTH they will be very very upset.

Why is it that everybody else seems to fighting for rights while Christians, and ONLY Christians, are losing their rights? The right of the state to not interfere in the church, (which outrageously a collage professor didn't even know it
or, hoped the student didn't know.) And secondly the right of freedom of speech. Why are we they only ones losing our rights? And what do we do it can we do anything?

This professor must feel if a student quotes a verse from the Bible, it is making a law with regard to establishing a government-favored religion. It isn't, but ignorant professors have the right to be wrong, just like everyone else.

I’ve had this issue in my graduate program; a Dr./professor (at a “Christian” university) told me citing Scriptural text should be limited and not to be used as foundational Academic sourcing. Really saddened and frustrated me.

MacArthur; Truth is dangerous. Better to have never known than to have known and rejected. Better to have never known than to have known, rejected, and rebelled.

JC Ryle; Be very sure of this people never reject the Bible because they can’t understand it. They understand it too well; they understand that it condemns their own behavior; they understand that it witnesses against their own sins, &!summons them to judgment. They try to believe it is false & useless, because they don't like to believe it is true.

Why doesn’t the professor put restrictions on the Quran or the Book of Mormon? Why be so selective with certain religious books but not with others? Hmmm.

God's word will always be offensive to the reprobate sinner, it tells him things he does not want to hear.

And the preaching of the cross is foolishness to them that perish, but to us which are saved it is the power of God.

I disagree, Uncle Sam. This prof is neither smart nor has wisdom. These are basic rights and concepts within academia and the US system in general.

The good news is that students must have been using Bible references in papers. Perhaps the prof was being convicted or rebuked for having assigned work in which the concepts were being refuted by Biblical principle and Scripture quotes?

First, this professor does not understand freedom of speech.
Second, this professor does not understand separation of church and state.
Perhaps smart but without wisdom!
