Christians rip GOP's 'dangerous' compromise on religious and LGBTQ rights
A coalition of Christian organizations is opposing a bill that purports to resolve the conflict between religious rights and new rights established by the Supreme Court's same-sex marriage ruling.

The Fairness for All Act, introduced by Rep. Chris Stewart, R-Utah, promises to "ban discrimination against LGBTQ people" and also "protect religious institutions that uphold traditional beliefs about marriage and sexuality."

"But does it?" asks the non-profit MinistryWatch.

John Stonestreet, president of the Colson Center for Christian Worldview, said the act "would enshrine into law something that simply is not true, and for Christians that's got to be a non-starter: that sexual orientation and gender identity are equal to race, that they are somehow immutable, something someone is born with." ...

I know this is a long time after this news item was published, but it seems to be this is a terrible “Trojan Horse” compromise that will lead to a real triumph for the LGBTQ and Transgender crowd.

Though their Equality Bill may possibly be defeated in the Senate, this compromise Fairness for All Act, which temporarily allows churches and religious institutions some very limited exemptions from the LGBT and Transgender demands, while throwing all individual Christians, “under the bus”, could well pass, as traitorous and cowardly Republicans, and so called evangelical organisations like NEA and the Christian Colleges organisation, are supporting it.

You do not possibly imagine that the crowd of citizens of Sodom, are going to allow this compromise to stay on the books for very long. Once they get the House, the Senate, and their Marxist Leftist globalist President, the compromise will be quickly revoked, and the persecution of Christians, both individual and at church level can really begin in earnest!!

I guess I did get a bit carried away, Christopher, but sodomites are very pushy and they want their sins to be acceptable and accepted by everyone. Right off hand, I can't seem to think of another group of sinners who flaunt unashamedly their sins and expect everybody to cater to them. I also believe sodomites don't even feel they are sinners. I am a sinner, saved by the grace of God, but I was not proud or boastful of my sins. As a matter of fact, I tried to hide them. Anyway, God's blessings to you, Brother Christopher.

Amen, Dr. Tim, for both of your comments and to yours as well, Chris.

If I may make the observation, the bill is caught up in a number of committees right now. Congressmen who aren't on those committees don't have a lot to typically say about bills parked there. It isn't that unusual for a Congressman to put in his 2 cents on something not under his direct purview but it isn't that common. Communicating with those committee members would be the best use of time and effort right now, and the biggest impacts are from their constituents. Maybe this will help.

But Christopher, queers ARE abominable scum—which is exactly what all of us are apart from Jesus Christ and the wondrous grace of God.

Good morning. Frank, thanks for saying you liked my series of comments on this topic, but on a different thread last week. I find it interesting how Steven would jump onto our reasonable, biblically sound thoughts, while leaving some of those below, completely alone.

Hi JD, I agree with you comments, and the general flavor of Soujourners, but personally, I would steer way clear of "demon possessed, abominable scum" as a blanket descriptor".

We were lost, but now are found...we were blind, but now we see clearly...by God's unmerited grace, only, and by nothing of ourselves, are we not amongst them, or supporting the wickedness. I'm trying to say that while we are to judge righteously, by speaking up and exposing Satan's wicked schemes, and while we are to hate the wicked deeds of the unrighteous, we can't ever forget that we have been saved by grace, by the skin of our teeth, by nothing of ourselves, and that our hearts should break in half over those who Satan has beguiled, remain in utter darkness, and many of whom will be thrown into outer darkness. How tragic.

I think we often look at the person with disgust, and although their deeds are disgusting and wicked, it's by God's unmerited grace that we have been separated, and called out from amongst them.

If y’all haven’t contacted your elected representatives and urged them to oppose this bill, why are you fiddling around whining about it on SA? It’s sad that America is going to hell, but it’s even worse that so many Christians sit idly by and watch it happen while doing nothing more than blubbering “Gee, ain’t it awful?”

Getting back to the proposed legislation, the bill has only eight co-workers as of last night and has been sent to a handful of Congressional committees. All the co-sponsors are Repulicans. It would seem like the liberal evnagelical leaders, men like Tim Keller with some others from notable positions with more liberal backgrounds, support this initiative and approach. Other men like Stonestreet are adamant that it should not be supported.

I think I posted the basic same comment on other proposed legislation. Past history, the support of sin, and common sense make supporting this approach a bad idea. Just A Sojourner has it right. We are not God and we cannot make up our own rules for living and especially for honoring him (Psalm 100 apllied). If we say that we get to make upmthe right vs wrong based on the ever shifting "societal norms," we are complicit in building a modern day, virtual Tower of Babel.

Just A. Sojourner has hit the nail square on its head. And I totally agree with the comments he (or, she) has posted regarding this farce of an act that makes it illegal for anybody, everybody to speak against sodomites. I can't, for the life of me, understand why this country has developed such a sinful "love affair" with this particular group of arrogant, prideful, pushy, never-satisfied, hardcore, in-your-face demon-possessed, abominable scum.

Hitler and the Nazi government ruled Jews unfit for society but that didn't make exterminating Jews right even though the government supported it. Just because a state passes a law doesn't mean that it is right.
We are all righteous in our on eyes and we seem to justify whatever sin we are committing. God has revealed to us right and wrong since our beginning in this world. A sin supported by the whole world doesn't make it any less of a sin.
A thief knows it's wrong to steal but after a few successful attempts he becomes obsessed with the crime. An adulterer knows that his sleeping around is wrong but after a couple of occasions he becomes comfortable. A murderer knows he has wrongly taken a life but after a few slaughters he's non remorseful. A drunkard hid with his first drink now he's parading in the streets and bars with his drink lifted high. A homosexual when he first laid down with another man knew it was strange and wrong but after several occurrences he was given over to his own lusts.
Just because we become use to living in our sins doesn't make them right. We have no right to justify sin in the name of Human Rights . God is the judge of sin and he is just in his judgment. So some say there is no God which would make their sins nonexistent , that means Hitler go

American churches spend little time talking about the gospel. Jesus came to save the lost by forgiving their sins by his death on the cross and his resurrection is evidence of that our Lord has power over death and life. The whosoevers are those who believe, but long ago He foreknew.
The lost and Satan don’t have much time left. And he’ll use every means, governments, armies, to stand in the way of our Lord. However. ..,

""But MinistryWatch explained that like the Equality Bill, Stewart's bill would expand federal laws that prohibit discrimination based on race, color and national origin to include sexual orientation and gender identity.""

Haven't we already been down this road?

These bureaucrats really don't understand that GOD called this sin an 'abomination' and it can never be acceptable to any Christian - regardless of the verbal tricks they apply.

Romans 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen."

"Therefore from now, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have regarded Christ according to flesh, yet now we regard Him thus no longer. (2Co 5:16)"

Even though we are to regard no one as to physicality it still bothers me that they still attempt to piggyback on what we Blacks have gone and (some) are still going through. It offends me. An aversion to same sex lust and unnatural behaviors can not and should never be equated to being against slavery and racism. Both are and should be offensive to our rational and righteous sensitivities. It should be shameful for any people to allow these freedoms. But if you want to legislate that I gladly accept and celebrate these things then I shall vehemently oppose you.

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.
(Pro 14:34)

Thanks for your well thought out comment! My guess is most people don’t remember someone named SteveR. He used to criticize me if I made a typo and his comments were very similar to Get Real’s. The primary goal of both was to sow discontent among the brethren. And we are to ignore those whose goal is to disrupt.

Hang in there!

Thank you for the encouragement brother! Iron sharpens Iron! I pray you have a blessed day.

1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. (2 Timothy 3:1, KJV)

So here is one scripture I was thinking of. I guess if you want to be persecuted leave a comment on sermon audio? Sorry I misspelled a word Get Real from the god of this Earth. I’ll try better next time. I also put Some instead of From you missed one. One day the church on the day of redemption will be a perfect as you are!

9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,
10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.
11 Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God. The Body Is the Lord's (1 Corinthians 6:9, NASB).

Such were some of you. Let’s not forget where we came some church. We are all guilty of sin. I’m not happy about the things of the world either but we must grow with the tares and show the love of Christ. Christ made sure to tell the servants that the reapers would separate the two. The servants were eager to attempt to remove the tares but He said the reapers would. Democrat or republican this issue is just getting started good and it isn’t the first time the world has dealt with it. The Word speaks about the judgment and romans 1 explains what takes place. Woman’s loss for natural effections! This place isn’t our home. We are the strangers in this strange land. Media glorifies sinful behavior and lost people follow. The sinner deep in sin is never satisfied! Oh Lord h

I fully expect that the "rights" of the sodomites will most definitely be protected --ALL! These are not "rights," however...they are WRONGS! Protections for religious institutions that uphold traditional beliefs about marriage and sexuality, however, I very seriously doubt that this part of this abominable law will be enforced. Only the sodomites' "rights" will be fully protected and upheld by this abominable law when it is passed. Sin and nasty abominations being legislated...and once this passes, the sodomites, never being satisfied, will only expand on this victory of theirs. Hopefully not, but I'm afraid that the next law passed by these ungodly demons will be one that will somehow legalize pedophilia. Wouldn't the sodomites just LOVE it if they are able to get pedophilia legalized?
