Boy with 'no brain' continues to defy expectations after parents refused abortion five times
A seven-year-old from Cumbria has moved his foot for the first time after undergoing pioneering therapy after his parents rejected pressure from doctors to abort him.

Doctors did not expect Noah Wall, who was born with spina bifida, only 2 per cent of his brain and is paralysed from the waist down, to live more than a few days.

They advised his parents, Shelley and Rob Wall, to consider abortion on five separate occasions. But they refused, and now Noah continues to defy expectations.

But, at the age of three, his brain had grown to a remarkable 80 percent of what it should be and is now nearly fully-functional, leaving medical professionals stunned. ...

No wonder, the British like their National Health Service so much They could never afford it to keep their son going without it, I would assume!

Well said with much wisdom, JAG. Amen!

We who assume we know the purpose of these children simply do not, for we do not have God's wisdom. But He does give us the ability to have longsuffering. And having seen Him work at least thru my sibling and work in and thru our own child, I am more and more convinced of John 9:1-3. Children are not made in our image for our purposes. They are made in the Lord's image and for His purposes.

People love to see people like this as especially challenging or miserable to care for...

In reality, God has allowed them to live for reasons that are good and right, just like He allows all of us to live...

When it comes to the problems and sufferings he experiences, he doesn't know anything different. He doesn't see it as suffering, just as much as we dont see our lives as suffering, if it's all we've ever known...

How much harder is it to raise a "normal" kids for 18 who has to be taught advanced skills, and in return just argues or causes "intelligent person problems" like arguing, being disobedient, wanting to do their own things, etc?...

Meanwhile handicapped kids reach point in life where they pretty much stay the same, even if it is hard sometimes...

I think we should be careful in our perspective of handicapped people, because who knows, if the Lord blesses you or your children with one, you might find yourself in love with the "sufferings and problems" that child has to be a part of, to be in your life....

May the Lord strengthen & encourage this family to press firmly into Him.

PS 139:13-14 For Thou hast possessed my reins. Thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Thy works, and that my soul knoweth right well.

Apparently you do not have the joys of a developmentally disabled child, YIA, or a developmentally disabled sibling. I do. What I can say from experience is that God's word proves true. Each person is, in fact, made in His image and is a part of His divine will. It is not an easy road. But it has been a road more than worth traveling.

I just want to say I'm not comfortable thinking about this child's future. It's a blessing he has committed parents to take care of him, but the amount of problems and suffering he experiences is terrifying to me.
