Army says faith-based group can no longer put Bible verses on dog tags after complaint
For the past 20 years, military members have been able to wear dog tags with Bible verses on them, giving them light and hope in some of their darkest times. For some Gold Star families, this is one of their most cherished possessions to remember their loved one who gave the ultimate sacrifice. But all this could be coming to an end.

After Fox News reported in July on "Shields of Strength," the faith-based business that prints Bible verses on dog tags for military members and their family, complaints were raised to the Department of Defense by Mikey Weinstein, founder, and president of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF). He demanded the military branches stop allowing the group to use the military emblem, saying it "poisons the constitutionally-mandated separation of Church and State..." ...

Thanks, Fred. If most tags are purchased third party, is there an Army reg that controls format and content that could be used to prohibit Biblical text or other kinds of religious expression, albeit rather private and mostly hidden most of the time?

Having recently served, I think the majority of tags are purchased third party and the real purpose is for casualty identification, given we most often use a Common Access Card for Mil ID. The sad thing is the DOD has been allowing buffoons to list their religion as "Flying Spaghetti Monster" in clear mockery of faith.

I'm not familiar with Army regs myself, Mike. But one of the characteristics with the Service is that Service members voluntarily give up some of their rights to protect the rights of individual civilian citizens. It is as if the government owns that individual military member. I've had my Constitutional rights trampled. It happens all the time, without recourse, because Constitutional rights don't fully count.

Are military personnel permitted to purchase and use a privately produced dog tag, Mike? Also, for the lowest ranked enlisted person, any additional purchase is cost prohibitive, especially those who are supporting families. Free exercise, QC. Military folks can find a way, even if Dept of Defense politicians choose to listen to looneys. Tags can be bought from Amazon with free shipping at $6.45 for two. (Called "Go Tags") I know the need for personnel to wear official ID tags, but don't know of any ruling against the wearing of additional tags. There wouldn't be any Constitutional justification for such a ruling anyway.

Satan and his followers are trying to eradicate every single Christian (Bible) connection from society and the people who believe.

A "God-less" world is what they seek to achieve.

Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?"

This generations rebellion from God is materializing in word and definitions.
Which reveals their blindness and ignorance of the truth. (Eph 4:18)

It is not enough for them to disbelieve in God but that they must also extricate every facet and characteristic of Bible doctrines and teachings from society.

1Tim 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;"

1Cor 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."

Norm,
None of the amendment's much less the first mean a thing to them. They treat the second one the same way.

I find it interesting how the first five words of the 1st amendment are always ignored by these people;"Congress shall make no law". This is what is expressly forbidden by the First amendment, and this has nothing to do with Congress making a law, just like all their other protests. It only has to do with their hatred of all things God.

No such constitutionally mandated separation exists, but hey, why should Mikey care? He got the State to poison the alleged separation by getting it to order the cessation of putting verses on Army products. There is an easy way around this, of course. Buy a dog tag that isn't issued by the Army.
