Southern Baptist president says he prefers to call transgender people by their chosen pronouns
Calling it “pronoun hospitality,” Southern Baptist Convention President J.D. Greear revealed on an “Ask Me Anything” episode of his podcast that he prefers to call transgender people by their preferred pronouns.

“There is a spectrum of generosity of spirit vs. telling truth,” Greear wrote in the podcast’s description. “I tend toward generosity of spirit.”

Please watch the film just released called "By What Standard::

I just finished watching the film "By What Standard." Initially, not understanding the technical terms used, I thought "Whats the big deal?" But by the time I reached the middle of the film and I understood the implications I grew very concerned. And by the end I was very deeply troubled. Taking supposed social injustices and lumping them all together with actual injustices as if they were all the same and were all therefore legitimate is to deceive and manipulate the uninformed, whether intentional or not. See:

Is Gay the New Black? Voddie Baucham

No wonder the president of the SBC was able to defend those of the LBGTQ movement without rebuke or any censure. Men and women's fallible and fluctuating feelings have and will now be allowed to determine and usurp infallible unchanging biblical authority in the convention as if feigned compassion were the final test of correct theology and genuine Christianity. No, it's the bible that is the sole determinator of that.

God has already claimed that prerogative for Himself.

Where is sola scriptura in all of this?

This is really serious...

Translation: “I prefer to capitulate to insanity rather than obey Christ.”

This would be like Jesus saying “ I prefer to call the Pharisees by their preferred titles than brood of vipers out of a spirit of generosity.”

Good points to both Douglas and Dr. Tim.
The SBC litmus test for the presidency(and how they secretly wished they were more like a pope), is you’re right- growth and paying off your building programs ahead of time. I’m in favor of paying off your debt but I have only been to one note burning party in my life of church hopping . Well, it’s not hopping if the pastor gets fired, quits or if there aren’t enough members to pay the staff. It’s called last one out turn off the light and shut the door.

That's good to know, 'Dr Tim' and makes me think maybe SA needs to start a Church History section for the enlightenment of all. That is one thing I have never seen any Sunday school classes on, have you?

I've always thought the Baptists were the largest Protestant denomination in the US because they promoted growth over doctrine. They were more likely to promote their 'Big Sunday School Program' than their adherence to Bible verses like those of 1 Timothy 5, how they have a very complete program for caring for widows.

The Southern Baptist Convention started swinging away from belief in the Bible and biblical practices decades ago. That’s one of the primary reasons for the Independent Fundamental Baptist movement. The IFB churches simply obeyed God’s command to “come out from among them, and be ye separate.” Bible-believing members of SBC churches should all do the same.

Thank you Douglas,
I’ve sent quite a few emails to the SBC office but being an old fundamentalist is the equivalent of admitting to eating puppies in the “ new” SBC.
The hierarchy of the SBC is on a perpetual apology tour against every person who has attended a SBC church. You might have never harassed anyone of the opposite sex , but you should be ashamed of yourself anyhow. You may have been convicted of the sin of bigotry and confessed to the Lord, but .. you know the drill. The devil doesn’t have to work too hard if your eyes are away from the Lord and on to hoping the culture loves you more.

""episode of his podcast that he prefers to call transgender people by their preferred pronouns.""

There are words and terms today that are Lie's, deception, duplicity and falsehood.
Or are redefined to be used to falsify and distort the truth.
For example ....

"Trans-gender" is of the same deceptive illusion.
It is used to pervert the truth about a human condition of mental aberration and delusion.

Reprobates seem to live in a fantasy of their own making and delusion.

2Tim 3:13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived."

2Thes 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:"

Thanks, 'wp' for the Inside Politics view on SBC. I have no way to find any of this out, since my local new station insists on covering things that burn, bleed, or squeal. A house fire across the country is labeled as important and featured in their 'off the cables' section, as if it was a house of someone famous, or was owned by a company that thousands of its viewers had stock in.
'WP' your understanding of SBC makes me want to suggest you write an extended article on this to be published at WND or the New American. I would add to that the thing they started doing years ago--removing the name Baptist from their church names. That should have been a sign of things to come.

This from a man who tallies conversions by “ hold high your smartphone if you’ve made a decision to follow Jesus today... thank you, thank you “.
Southern Seminary orchestrated the firing of Page Patterson and moved their people in as executive president of southwestern seminary.
JD is an acolyte of Moore and Mohler. JD is big on women ministry staff. ( He green lighted Beth Moore “ preaching “ and encourages of her acid mouth Twitter feeds .).
And his people were fond of saying “can’t wait for the old guard to die out because we’re taking over “. JD Greer , He’ll be the reason Fewer churches identify as SBC.
Been to Lifeway store for black Friday?
Oh that’s right, they closed all 170 stores after promising only 25 would be closed due to reorganization.
If their mouth is moving, watch your family, wallets and your old times gospel preachers, they’d come for all if possible.

I've decided "transgender" people are crazy, so the question reduces to whether you want to humor lunatics with their self-delusions or not. Or from another perspective, I'd rather not talk to someone at all, or extremely minimally, than be subject to irritating pronoun correction. Who wants to converse with a nagging Grammar Nazi?

I often refer to most (not all) pastors as hirelings. Sometimes I catch some flak for saying that, but this article is a good example of what motivates me. IMO, this Greear fellow loves his church position more than he love Christ. To me, that simply makes him a PC hireling. Whatever we esteem the most that is what we are worshipping. This fellow is on record for saying one of his goals was to “call off” the culture war. I have never thought of God’s word being defined as a culture war? That could easily mean that an issue can be looked at one way in our society/culture, but differently in another. We have allowed culture to define scripture instead of scripture defining culture.

Mark 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Scripture is very clear on homosexuality and gender roles, and is the final authority. So how do we speak the truth in love? (Ephesians. 4:15) By calling them sodomites? Wouldn’t the best way to reach the transgender community start by addressing them as they identify, and then proceed with repentance and the gospel truth? That Jesus suffered, bled and died for the sins they are actively practicing.

From the news:
"There is a spectrum of generosity of spirit vs. telling truth," Greear wrote in the podcast's description. "I tend toward generosity of spirit."

I wonder how generous of spirit he would be if someone's preferred pronoun was "everybody"? Shows how silly it can be when truth is ignored in favor of feel-good nonsense.

That's not coming from me. I've been instructed to "speak the truth in love." I will not participate in their fraud nor encourage them in their sin. Thus, I will be respectful and polite and ask them their name; and use that in my conversation with them. So if the bearded man wants to be called "Alice" I will call him Alice. If the boy named Sue wants to be called "Sue" then I will call him Sue.

Well that's mighty "generous"of you, Mr. Greer, but almighty God says in HIS holy Words (more than once)---that they are SODOMITES!!! If He says sodomites, then that is what they are! So that is what they are! Does this man feel that God is not generous? What do you call murderers, adulterers, idolatry, liars, and other sinners? Have you been as generous with all other sins and the sinners? Preach the Word. Sinners are supposed to feel uncomfortable with truth! What's so "special"about sodomites that you feel the need to protect their feelings? What is your responsibility as the president of a Christian organization? Being "generous of spirit, or telling the truth? Shame on you for feeling that God prefers generosity rather than truth. If a person is made to feel comfortable in their sins, they may never repent.
