California's Prop 47 leads to rise in shoplifting, thefts, criminal activity
Proposition 47 is seen by critics as one of California's biggest blunders. Supported by the state Democratic Party and championed by the American Civil Liberties Union, the referendum was passed by a wide margin in 2014. The idea behind it was to reduce certain non-violent felonies to misdemeanors in order to free up resources for cops and prosecutors to focus on violent offenders.
Since Proposition 47 was passed, there has been an increase in theft across the state. Cities like San Francisco have seen organized crime rings turn shoplifting into a well-organized racket involving desperate thieves and unscrupulous black-market resellers.
Among the nation's 20 largest cities, San Francisco now has the highest rate of property crime, which includes theft, shoplifting and vandalism....
Granting suffrage to felons (as Sanders has proposed), if combined with populist ballot propositions like these, is fatal to civilization. Don't like criminal laws or police which cramp your style? Don't like low wages? All you have to do is vote.
Yet Sanders says, "I think the right to vote is inherent to our democracy. Yes, even for terrible people."
I would say *especially* terrible people, the natural allies of politicians like him. Under Lenin and Stalin, thieves were considered "socially friendly" and got better treatment than political prisoners.
After a society collapses , immigrants from the collapsed society search for another society to inhabit/ invade. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Californians get in the Prius’ and move east of anywhere but Cali. Build that wall!seal them off and let them eat the dope they grow and breath in the smog.
I have a Christian friend who lives in Germany. He said that some of the Muslim enclaves are actually more populated than the villages around them. And these Muslims simply go into stores and steal whatever they need. When the police are called, they come and don't even file a report.
I didn't read the article, but it seems this is also happening in CA.
Great points, JAG. There was a post on a different story recently that proclaimed that since laws did not eradicate sinful behavior, particularly illegal drug use, those laws might as well be abolished. This story today shows the end of that kind of thinking...lawless behavior.
I think all us want to live in a world in which all is well. We want that world right now. But this is still post-Fall earth, groaning & waiting for the Lord's return.
