Religion Is on the Decline as More Adults Check ‘None’
Religiosity in the U.S. is in sharp decline, according to a study released by the Pew Research Center on Thursday, with the ranks of people who don’t adhere to any faith growing fast while church attendance has fallen steeply.

Christians make up 65% of the U.S. adult population, according the 2018-2019 study, down from 77% in 2009. At the same time, those who don’t identify with any religion—often known as “nones”—now make up more than a quarter of the population, compared with 17% a decade ago. Only 45% of adults said they attended church at least once a month, down from 52% in 2009.

The data reflect a seismic social reordering that has seen the population shift away from Christianity and toward religious disaffiliation. ...

Remember when you read these secular media sources, when they mention 'Christian' they are including Catholics, which make up the largest part of Christians. They probably include Mormons and JWs as well, though their numbers are quite low in comparison to Catholics.
And, speaking of Catholics, I wonder if their survey was also done in Spanish, which would pick up a lot of the recent immigrants flooding across our uncontrolled, unwalled border.

I'll give you some of what Russell Moore said, I hope that he is right❗👍
Nina Burleigh wrote:
....
Moore said evangelical youth is different from its elders—but not so different that it won't return to the pews someday. "With Generation X, millennial and Generation Z evangelicals, there is a deep suspicion of any cynical use of religion for worldly purpose," Moore said. "So one has to motivate them differently than one would, say, the kind of television evangelist demographic that many secular people think of when they think of evangelicalism. When I am in a group of older evangelicals my message is typically 'Seek first the kingdom of God, political idolatry will kill us, let's remember what is transcendently important.' But when I talk to younger evangelicals, I am dealing with the opposite problem and saying one cannot simply withdraw from political life in overreaction to some dispiriting actions that have taken place."

"Young evangelicals do not feel as if they are losing anything in terms of American culture," he said. "They came of age at a time when following Christ seemed counter-cultural to them anyway."...

From the news:
"The data reflect a seismic social reordering that has seen the population shift away from Christianity and toward religious disaffiliation. ..."

False statement. If the population is shifting from religion to no religion, it leaves them nowhere, which is where they were when they had religion. True Christ-followers aren't going anywhere.

John 5:24
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."

Can't lose everlasting life, or it wouldn't be everlasting, would it? "Shall not come into condemnation" leaves no room for condemnation, does it? "Is passed from death unto life" means you can't go back to death.

The wheat separating from the chaff is hardly an awful seismic thing we should fret over. Isn't it supposed to happen, as the time draws near?

My wife and I often lament that what we are seeing here in the US is exactly the same, John UK. It makes finding a solid church for us difficult.

Of course I'm glad to see a brother-in-Christ back! We may not always see eye to eye, but the love between saints covers that.

Just because one Clicks none, that doesn’t change the facts of true reality & true Truth. That one isn’t born into a state of neutrality, or progress into one, either, what a myth & lie, that is!!

PS 19:1-2 The heavens declare the glory of God, & the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, & night to night reveals knowledge.

Rom 1:20-21 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power & divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they didn’t honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, & their foolish hearts were darkened.

So good to see you back, John UK.
The same thing you are witnessing in Wales is happening in the US via the "megachurch movement." I'm sure some are better than others on a relative scale, but there is no real corporate worship and can have very iffy, therapeutic preaching. Many have a tie to the charismatic movement as well so it seems.
It is gracious of you brother to say so. And yes, if there is any sort of church which may remain open for the foreseeable future here in Wales, it will be the charismatic churches, because they are made up primarily of young people. Most other churches are very elderly congregations and will naturally die away and close the doors.

Therefore, if any Christian here wishes to meet together with other believers and serve the Lord with a whole heart, but who do not wish to fellowship with charismatics, they have to make do as best they can.

In America, John, if you “say” you’re a Christian, you’re a Christian. (I’m sure it’s the same in the UK.) That’s why we have so many “Christians” like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton actively promoting sodomy and infanticide. That’s why we have a “Christian” queer running for president. That’s why we have “Christians” like Jim who abhor Christian involvement in politics and yet spend all their time talking about politics. That’s why we have “Christians” by the millions who will welcome the Antichrist with open arms. And the reason we have so many “Christians” like that is because so many of our churches have a come-as-you-are, leave-as-you-were mentality. Do you hear that retching sound? That’s Jesus spewing them out of His mouth.
Thank you brother, that makes a lot of sense. I suppose the survey also includes every shade of christendom, even Catholicism and Episcopalian.

Wales has been steadily following Europe into secularism, and becoming more and more liberal. Nonconformist chapels are closing down every week, and people of "vision", so-called, are seeking to pander to the wants of outsiders, making churches which are no churches. "Christian Hedonist Church". Jesus left.
