California’s poverty rate among highest in nation once again
California, typically one of the most prosperous and progressive states, is also one of the poorest.

That’s according to new data from the US Census Bureau that offers insight into the economic status of people in California and the nation. The annual release of survey data measures income, poverty and insurance status.

For California, that means another reminder that the state’s poverty rate of 18.2 percent is exceeded only by Washington DC, which has a poverty rate of 18.4 percent when you account for the cost of living. It accounts for about 1 in every six residents. ...

How about having the Bobby ORourche implement a new housing plan- move the impoverished in Silicon Valley, to Beverly Hills, where no children live in San Francisco, send them there. Since homelessness and poverty is most noted in large cities, we could import them from Austin, Houston, DFW, S.A and El Paso and send them to Governor Newsom’s nieghborhood and do a study on how that works., or not.

'“At the same time, earnings except for those at the highest end of the wage spectrum have seen wages that have not really grown in recent years.” '

The above quote from the Sacramento Bee article that SA used, seems to be a problem throughout the whole country, as a few of the threads on SermonAudio has pointed out. It's just too expensive to live in California.

But it must be a healthy state, at least, if you happen to check out the news story today over at Yahoo. SF is 1st, then LA, Irvine, and San Diego rank in top 10.
I think these healthiest cities are about the author's or editor's personal habits, so having a good place to eat barbequed pork sandwiches is not high on their list, but drinking craft brews, riding mountain bikes on trails, and other 'socially acceptable' forms of recreation are on their list. They just craft a survey to show people in 'their' favorite cities rank high.

I don't think CA Democrats consider the poverty rate a problem, for dependent poor people are precisely whom these Progressives want as constituents.

Exactly right. These people want a society completely dependant on the government. More people in poverty means more people you can control...

Usually the news we read about California is the latest moral corruption of the sodomite agenda, abortion and transvestite type.

God does not bless Satan's patch when evil and wickedness runs the society there.

Punishment in His wrath comes in many forms including poverty and decline of morals.

Rebellion by the reprobate is a natural state of life in the fallen. But the areas where we find wickedness and iniquity at its most influential we observe a growing lawlessness and misery for that people. Of course the poor are the first to endure the hardships of godless existence.

Mammon's followers believe themselves to be well off and well blessed but they are really deceived on the wide road to hell.

California's people are notorious for their politically correct Liberalist attitude to modern life. What they don't know is that like Sodom and Gomorrah (and Babylon) they are on a dangerous path to destruction and the Wrath to come. A hopeless existence alienated from the life of God contrives in ignorance and blindness to follow the blind guides to hell.

I don't think CA Democrats consider the poverty rate a problem, for dependent poor people are precisely whom these Progressives want as constituents. They will never oppose gov't handouts, regardless of how destructive they are. The greater the poverty, the greater the Democrat stranglehold on state politics.

This is what results from allowing people on welfare to vote. Note that Sanders wants to extend suffrage rights to convicts!

CA has been a reliable harbinger of what will happen to the country as a whole.

Somehow, this is not surprising. There are a lot of factors, including Proposition 13's property tax implications, the sanctuary state of undocumented day workers, and the general destruction of the middle class.

People are truly suffering in California, and they groan under the impact of poor governance.
