Newsweek: Time to Rethink Taboo on Cannibalism?
Since cannibalism is found throughout the animal kingdom and therefore is something natural, perhaps it is time for humans to rethink the “ultimate taboo” against eating human flesh, Newsweek proposes in an article Wednesday.

There is nothing necessarily unethical or unreasonable about eating human flesh, declare psychologists Jared Piazza and Neil McLatchie of Lancaster University, but careful reasoning over the merits of cannibalism is often “overridden by our feelings of repulsion and disgust.”

While not going so far as to recommend cannibalism, saying “there is no need to overcome our repulsion for the foreseeable future,” the two authors suggest that humans could master their aversion for human flesh if they needed to. ...

StevenR, I think your sense of humor is coming out on this one, Brother.

Perhaps since people get themselves into sloppy messes routinely, a correlation with pigs is appropriate.

But from the straight laced Biblical viewpoint, there are cleanliness laws in the OT regarding the handling of dead bodies. While the cleanliness issue is completed for Christians by Jesus, at no time did the Lord suggest thru Moses that eating each other was an appropriate food source. If anything, it was a punishment.

Juxtapose this with the authors of this study who see people as just other animals. If alligators do it, then it's appropriate for people too.

Well, I’ve heard it tastes like pork.
As far as Scripture, does it say “thou shalt not eat?” I mean, wasn’t “waste not want not” somewhere in there? Think about it: If you don’t shed their blood to get it, it might be ok....
Just saying.

Meanwhile us sola scriptura Christians are like, “not a good idea”, which we will be right. . . Again. They will continue in their foolishness. Because they refused the truth, they will be forced to believe a lie.

Shrinks manufacturing controversy to grab the limelight. One doesn't get degrees, fame/notoriety, and grants by reiterating the same old ideas every year. No idea, no matter how stupid or foolish, is unthinkable so long as it's new.

Just like Athens in Paul's day.

This is so off-the-charts evil it is hard to knkw where to begin.

Maybe the Noahic Covenant - whomever sheds the blood of man shall also have his own blood shed?

Maybe the curses in Deuteronomy for failing to follow the Lord in the way He has commanded, in which sieges would come and some would eat their own family members? Which came to pass, showing that sin leads to the Llrd turning one over, perhaps, to more sin so that bit becomes exceedingly sinful?

Perhaps 1 Corinthians 15 in which there are different kinds of flesh separating people from animals?

This is simply another attack on God's created order. Anything He has told us not to do or be, there is a push to do it or be it. Ultimately it is an effort to establish society as the god, like a modern day virtual Tower of Babel.

Knowledge may be increasing in these last day, but Wisdom seems to stand off elsewhere calling for people to follow her instead to the Lord.
