'The Bachelorette' and the widespread practice of premarital sex among Christians
There was a major movement in the '90s and early 2000s where young singles were taking a vow of celibacy and wearing rings that signified their purity. The slogan âtrue love waitsâ became a motto then.
At the time, an estimated 2.5 million American teenagers publicly pledged to abstain from sex until marriage. However, a study done for the Journal of Adolescent Health in 2001 showed that 88% of purity pledgers had premarital intercourse.
More recently, as previously reported by CP, a study on Christian attitudes toward dating and marriage revealed a broad acceptance for cohabitation and premarital sex and a rejection of traditional gender roles.
According to the "2014 State of Dating in America" report published by Christian Mingle and JDate, 61% of Christians said they would have sex before marriage....
I do think that the many young people Iâve spoken too , simply shut down the idea of having a conversation about faith. Iâm not talking about non Christians, Iâm talking about young people, who profess Christianity, put up barriers about personal holiness, and our witness before Christ. Oh, their quick to call me a bigot for not celebrating sodomy or fornication, or the cause of high incidence of crime among people of color being abandoned by fathers . But, when asked, if Christ came today, could you receive a crown by your witness? Many, look puzzled or smirk.
Very sad news about immorality among people who call themselves Christian. Are they really? Will they be like the guy in the news item who lost his faith? And again, this story reminds everyone of the importance of the church in the family. Looking at the world with our Bible glasses, we see how I Timothy 5 applies to this. It deals mostly with widows, or as we could call it, "God's Plan for the Senior Christian Woman." First it calls for families to take care of their widows, and for younger widows to marry again. It says the church can only aid widows that have met certain 'work requirements' like good works and 'washing the feet of the saints.' As you can see, the church has a lot to do with families, because the family is God's plan for our lives.
""a study on Christian attitudes toward dating and marriage revealed a broad acceptance for cohabitation and premarital sex and a rejection of traditional gender roles.""
The one word from the above statement that is questionable is, - "Christian"
What does the term Christian mean to many who claim the title?
Liberalist christian??? Nominal christian??? Roman Catholic christian??? Even = "gay" christian??????
Oxymoron christians are rife in churches in the world today.
We even have oxymoron christian bishops? oxymoron christian archbishops?? oxymoron christian popes.... etc etc etc.
Many in this apostate and blind world call themselves christian but do not understand the Bible - Nor who wrote the Bible??
Eph 4:17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, 18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: 19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness."
The Greek for 'vanity' (v17) means:- 1. What is devoid of truth and appropriateness. 2. Perverseness, depravity:
Looking at things from the Divine side of the issue. A person who is born from above now has an indwelling Holy Spirit and the law of God written on their hearts. They would be ignoring the prompting of the Sprit of God that they are sinning regardless of the fact that they have no human mentor.
Even Paul said the Corinthians had become prideful of their tolerance of immorality, which showed they knew it was wrong. The guy who sits in front of me a couple of pews up, when he got saved he disposed of all his pornography and drugs the night he got saved because of the witness of the Spirit that it was wrong.
To openly commit and justify sinful activity would be cause to question the reality of oneâs so called conversion.

From a purely human perspective, a liberal church wouldn't teach the way of salvation, so they more than likely wouldn't be Christians and a conservative church which still teaches the Bible would tell them that sexual impurity is wrong. That is why is sad to see some who post here who seem to put forth the thinking that church attendance is unimportant in your Christian walk.
One would have to think that even the conscience of the unregenerate of whom the Bible says
Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another
would know that anything along these lines is wrong but go against it.
This is very worrying, not because of this issue, but wouldnât true Christians be very ashamed to admit that they are having pre-marital sex if they were, and also cohabiting is so blatant. We tend to hide our sins and confess them secretly, I think that soft gospel preaching is the main culprit here, which is the gospel of Satan.
What kind of church are these Christians from? I canât imagine a real and biblical church allowing immorality among their youth and unmarried. Someone once said, if someone looks like the world, talks like the world and acts like the world then he is of the world. Such people should not be mistaken for a true Christian.
