China removes 'Bible,' 'God,' 'Christ' from children's classics like 'Robinson Crusoe'
In efforts to bring Christianity further under government control, authorities in China have erased the words "Bible," "God" and "Christ" from classic children’s stories, including Robinson Crusoe.

China’s Ministry of Education recently introduced a new school textbook to help fifth-grade students “understand other cultures,” according to Asia News. Included in the textbook are four popular stories by foreign writers, including Robinson Crusoe, The Little Match Girl, and Vanka. However, each story is censored to remove any religious reference.

In Daniel Defoe’s 18th century classic novel, castaway Robinson Crusoe discovers three Bibles inside a shipwreck, which he then uses as his moral compass while stranded on the island. However, the Chinese version eliminates the word "Bible,” instead noting that Crusoe happened upon “a few books.” ...

Leftists often pretend that Bowdlerizing and censorship were invented by conservatives. Mark Twain has historically been a target because his depiction of blacks, though sympathetic, wasn't politically correct in hindsight.

Robinson Crusoe wasn't originally a children's story; so far as I know, these didn't exist as a distinct genre back then. Kids were expected to read adult [mature] literature.

"Swiss Family Robinson" was inspired by Robinson Crusoe and was written by a Swiss pastor. This was an example of the "Robinsonade" literary genre.

You might want to check your local public library to see if those books have been hidden from the kids, and books about 'Jenny's 2 Mothers" are promoted instead.

Communism hates and fears Christianity.

Man's reprobate philosophy is to reject God and anything to do with God, therefore the Bible gets the proverbial boot out the door.

Communism raises the primitive ideology and concept that man is in complete charge of his existence, and is essentially a 'good' person. Sin is seen to be untrue and the transgressions in man can be controlled by the communist manifesto and administration.

Communism stems from arrogance, reprobation and ignorance.

Arrogance seeks to influence and control others.
Reprobation is Condemned to hell.
Ignorance is unable to comprehend truth.

Man's worldly ideologies such as communism, socialism and Liberalism come from atheism and its basis in ignorance.
This state of being demonstrate that faith comes from God and is not natural human faculty.

Rewriting books. Next step is burning books. History history history.

We're not far off in America with all our political correct nonsense. Schools have dropped To Kill a Mockingbird from their reading list because it's racist?? Huh? They should definitely read the book.

YIA, your first comment is right on!

A few books won't be your moral compass, only the Bible can do that.

YIA, you hit the nail on the head.

It's when God removes himself from China that they need to worry. Thankfully, so long as Christians are there, and they are witnessing to Christ, Jesus himself said (promised) "Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world."

Something cool I found today in an old book, first easter egg ever, and it's in the KJV!

Because Psalms is poetry, when translating into english, the King James Version people asked William Shakespeare to help! As thanks, they hid his name in Psalms 46!

The KJV bible was published in 1611, at this time Shakespeare was... 46 years old! He was born on 1564.

Now if we go to psalm 46, and start from verse 1, count down "46" words, you will land on the word "Shake", now go to the last verse, and do the same, you will land on the word.. Spear!

I think this is so cool!

Well said, YIA. We lose out by apathy. Others lose out by censorship.

Someone once said you can have the library of alexandria, but it won't do any good if none read the books. I feel it's the same way in free countries.... few people even know who robinso crusoe even is, much less any religious aspects found within
