In first states to legalize pot, teen use triggers concerns
The first two states to legalize recreational marijuana are starting to grapple with teenagers' growing use of highly potent pot, even as both boost the industry and reap huge tax windfalls from its sales.

Though the legal purchase age is 21 in Colorado and Washington, parents, educators and physicians say youths are easily getting hold of edibles infused with tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, the psychoactive component that causes a high, and concentrates such as "shatter," a brittle, honey-colored substance that is heated and then inhaled through a special device.

Each poses serious risks to adolescents' physical and mental health. ...

That is very difficult to consider, JAG. Our child is a bit younger than you but will too face these trials. I shutter to think what a mess this world has become and wonder if I did enough as salt to try to hold it all off. Honestly, I don't even know where to begin. But thankfully the Lord does. And clean it up He will. In the meantime, we groan waiting for the revealing of the sons of God with the rest of Creation (Romans 8).

Meanwhile, it does seem that the days grow darker but thus it is always before the dawn breaks. Keep a weather eye on the eastern sky. Hold fast until the end.

QC says...
IF the Lord tarries and this world remains another forty years, you will be in a fairly unique position"

I totally agree...

I am fairly certain that we are entering an age similar to the great persecutions experienced by the early church. An age where people blame the Godly ones for the problems they brought on themselves...

I am confident I can take the persecution brought on myself. But the agony that comes with persecution for a potential family is really hard to think about. The thought that my kids could be taken because they will be biblically disciplined (they'll call it child abuse), the negative influences from a culture saturated in bad media, or the financial heartaches we will start to have as we become a socialist country...

Those are the things that I will have to face. My the Lord give me courage in the time of need...

Well stated, Quiet Christian.
It is a no brainer. Alcohol eats the brain cells and drugs mess up the brain.
Maybe that has something to do with the extremely poor judgment in advocating or encouraging the use of either. We see what alcohol has done to the society.
...same deal with the proliferation, almost weekly here, of sexual assaults and offenses committed against our children and youth. Selling sex or encouraging it publicly, should be criminalized...that includes all of the media, music and entertainment forms.
If something is illegal then it should not be given accolades or praise by which money grubbing predators take advantage.

JAG, you and your brother BDF were brought up differently to be in the world but not of the world. You both belong to Christ. Those are distinct advantages that many other young men do not have. Just being homeschoolers can give you both an additional advantage in that you have been taught to think, to read critically, and to understand the difference between what the world peddles and the Lord says. IF the Lord tarries and this world remains another forty years, you will be in a fairly unique position.

For anyone surprised by the news story, shame on you. It's a no brainer. If wine is a mocker and strong drink raging, what is cannibis? Society demands its way, and increasingly the Lord has turned it over to its lusts. Today, our homeschool history lesson included some of the depravity of Rome. If the Lord tarries, at some point, we will follow in its footsteps to the dustbin of future history as a society that had all the advantages but used them for our own destruction. It is a picture of the impact of the Fall and total depravity. How desperately we and everyone around us needs Jesus Christ!

Of course, in a few years time, some clever dickey will come up with the idea that cannabis is bad for your health, bad for your town, bad for your wife, your husband, your children. And he will be hailed as a great orator and revolutionary.

So I guess by the time I am the age of many people on here, this nation will be a country filled with blank, ignorant, communist dummies who follow in the footsteps of the lazy nation destroyers of history...

Pot is the first stone on crossing the creek to a complete dependency on the State. The socialist in this country want a generation to grow that can't take care of themselves, is drugged out, dumbed out, and monitored out of oblivion...

I can't imagine want we will look like in 2040 or so...
