Pope Francis Denies He Knew of U.S. Cardinal’s Sexual Misconduct
Pope Francis responded for the first time to an accusation that has dogged his pontificate since last year, denying that he knew about former Cardinal Theodore McCarrick’s history of sexual misconduct before it was revealed by a church investigation.

“I knew nothing about McCarrick, obviously, nothing, nothing,” the pope said in an interview with Mexico’s Televisa network, according to a transcript published Tuesday by an official Vatican news outlet, Vatican News. “I knew nothing about McCarrick, otherwise I wouldn’t have remained silent, right?”

In February, Mr. McCarrick, an 88-year-old former archbishop of Washington, became the first cardinal in modern times to be dismissed from the priesthood after a Vatican trial found him guilty of sexual abuse of minors and sexual misconduct with adults. ...

What do you know❗ There's an adjective, that one associates with the Eastern Roman Empire and not the Western one.

"Byzantine

"4. Of a devious, usually stealthy, manner or practice."

This certainly describes the papacy for at least the present Pope and the two before him. 👎
The article that I mentioned in my previous post point out the Byzantine nature of the Romish church 😈

"Pope Francis is seen as a threat against certain alliances between Catholicism and capitalism," Dr Faggioli said.

"They are using the sexual abuse scandal against Francis, to try and say that he's an accomplice of abusers and that he has done nothing."...

"This is something that you didn't see in the previous pontificates — they were accused of acting slow or not paying attention [to sexual abuse] — but no one was accusing them of consciously colluding with abusers," Dr Faggioli said....

So far however, Pope Francis has held his nerve in a period which Dr Faggioli said is equivalent to multiple "impeachment" attempts.

He explained that this has become another sideshow that has distracted the Church from a primary focus, that being the protection of the vulnerable....

McCarrick was a very well connected and locally powerful individual in Washington DC for quite some time. That kind of connection in that environment can buy off justice...like any high government official. We can all name our other "favorites" who have escaped justice for their crimes.

As Chris G P said well, there is a Judge who will declare His justice on this poor man unless he turns to Jesus Christ and repents of his sins.

I don't know how many of you were not able to read The Wall Street journal article, so here probably is a good representative article for the topic from Reuters:

It really clarifies nothing. Why am I not surprised?

I suppose that the Pope still has plausible deniability?

True, Chris

This man is now, I believe, living in an obscure friary somewhere in the internal United States as a lay brother guest, and as far as I know, no prosecutions are pending against him for his crimes. He basically has to stay there quietly for the rest of his life. He will of course in due time, face a far more severe and eternal court, and a Judge who will not be influenced or put off in any way, and unless this man gets right with this Judge before he dies, repents and receives Him as Saviour and Lord, he will receive that terrible eternal judgment awaiting him otherwise.
Meanwhile other bishops and priests consecrated and ordained, or influenced by him in the seminaries and dioceses he was involved with are active, spreading the pro-homosexual message, and ready to sweep anything under the carpet that they can.
Excellent comment Chris!

The RCC accepts people into the priesthood as long as they say they are not "practicing" homosexuals. The most conservative statistic I found was between 30 and 40 percent of priests are actually practicing homosexuals. They have relationships with each other and then simply confess to each other and absolve one another

And of course most know that most pedophiles are in fact homosexuals.
