Three churches were attacked in Sri Lanka, with explosions killing dozens of Christians as they celebrated Easter Sunday morning.

Three hotels — Shangri-La Colombo, Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo and the Cinnamon Grand Colombo — that were holding Easter breakfast buffets were also targeted in the attacks. Two additional explosions were confirmed by media in Dehiwela and Dematagoda areas.

Police and hospital sources say at least 185 people, including children, have been killed and 469 have been injured in the attacks. ...

With the Tamil Tigers defeated, Sri Lanka's non-Buddhist communities were again persecuted. This culminated in 2013 with a Buddhist attack on a mosque.

Anti-Muslim riots in 2014 resulted in a 10-day state of emergency. Last year, there were more anti-Muslim riots. Buddhist monks have also disrupted Christian church services.

Clearly, Sri Lanka's history of extremist violence is far from new....

Hi, John a few minutes ago the news showed all the carnage done and reported 300 deaths so far.It was Islamist militants that sent suicide bombers but someone was behind it all and they are still searching for them.So sad for all those families.

There are 290 dead and hundreds more injured, Dolores. It is very sad. And more today, according to the Beeb:

"Meanwhile, another blast rocked a street near a church in the capital, Colombo, on Monday. Azzam Ameen, of BBC Sinhala, said a vehicle used by the attackers exploded as security forces tried to defuse explosives inside. It is not known if anyone was hurt."

What a terrible thing it is to murder innocent people. From what I heard on the TV, the count is likely to be much higher. The article said they aren't sure who is responsible for this mass murder. I have always been very good at this, so let me take a guess and say it was someone involved with Islam. Last sentence was an attempt at sarcasm.
