The Truth About Dentistry
The uneasy relationship between dentist and patient is further complicated by an unfortunate reality: Common dental procedures are not always as safe, effective, or durable as we are meant to believe. As a profession, dentistry has not yet applied the same level of self-scrutiny as medicine, or embraced as sweeping an emphasis on scientific evidence. “We are isolated from the larger health-care system. So when evidence-based policies are being made, dentistry is often left out of the equation,” says Jane Gillette, a dentist in Bozeman, Montana, who works closely with the American Dental Association’s Center for Evidence-Based Dentistry, which was established in 2007. “We’re kind of behind the times, but increasingly we are trying to move the needle forward.”

Consider the maxim that everyone should visit the dentist twice a year for cleanings. We hear it so often, and from such a young age, that ...

Long article with a lot of over the top emotional verbiage. One example of a Dentist offering services not needed thus stealing from patients. I do notice that developed acountries where dentistry (those with universal healthcare) is not a priority people have the most awful looking teeth and do not replace lost teeth. Teeth help you talk clearly and masticate food for proper digestion. I benefit from oral cleanings 2X a year as my teeth are cleaner and brighter. Since I have yet to get a cavity I have never had anything done but a cleaning. I will keep my dentist and bi-annual cleanings. By the way, I wonder if The Atlantic has looked at Chiropractic services? Health insurers cover this service and some even cover acupuncture both of which are dubious. Before anyone gets themselves into an emotional fit and anedoctal meltdown go read up on the history of both.

Thought it was interesting all the gymnastics that were done to escape that very point about the oath and especially the role of the state dental boards. Nearly toothless watchdogs they are, but still they can bark.

Every type of medicine has this issue. You just don't hear about it as well. They have better marketing and more well paid lawyers. Look up 'iatrogenic death' which is the fancy name for killed by the medical treatment team.

And therefore have I given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and scarceness of bread in all your places, yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord. - Amos 4:6

Let's see...We see the dentist twice a year and have little bread in our house as my family is mostly gluten free at this point: Lord forgive us our sin in the name of the Lord Jesus!

It is not just sugar.

1) You must brush with water after every meal to make mouth alkaline again.
2) You must use a waterpic on medium low every night before bed. Waterpic is for gums not teeth really.
3) You must not have an acidic mouth before bed. Use a 1/8th teaspoon baking soda in mouth before bed right after brushing and water pic.
4) Sugar feeds bacteria in gums, acidic mouth breaks down bone.
5) use 1/8th teaspoon zylitol in mouth before bed if you have no stomach pain side effects from it, it helps rebuild bone and keeps out bad bacteria in gums.

Getting tired reading about teeth? It's giving you a toothache? Well just slide down to the end of the article, read about:

https://tinyurl.com/y5nvqr9o "The Ancient Math That Sets the Date of Easter and Passover " 👍

It has more about the meaning of the season then dentists do. Not only processed sugar is hard on teeth, but before processed sugar, nuts were known to wear down teeth, 👎 which was was seen in many old skeletons.

Eliminate the sugar bill to get rid of the dentist bill...

For 5900 years of earth history, people didn't need dentist. Mainly because we ate a diet that was more natural, and sugarless. Off course there were many who needed teeth work, but not by injecting mercury, and formaldehyde into their teeth.

I am not interested in a single doc visit following me the rest of my life with health issues...

Doc Tim, being a highly educated mountain kin, should have known this, and quit. But, he won't. He'll keep tricking the poor ignorant mountain kin into trusting his goat horn tooth replacements, and oppossum hair tooth brushes...
