Trump at National Prayer Breakfast: “I Will Never Let You Down”
President Donald Trump made his third appearance at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. on Thursday. He was greeted by a largely friendly, conservative crowd and he spoke on themes that provided manna for those in attendance.

The president spoke on subjects tailor-made for the audience. Among his subjects were religious liberty, his opposition to abortion, and the inherent goodness of America. His remark on abortion, which has been in the news lately due to recent extremist abortion laws in New York and Virginia, received the largest applause.

“As part of our commitment to building a just and loving society, we must build a culture that cherishes the dignity and sanctity of innocent human life,” he declared. “All children, born and unborn, are made in the holy image of God.”

The president also praised Vice President Mike Pence’s wife Karen, who has taken media heat recently for ...

Right there has been the confusing part. Kind of like me posting in an abortion thread, and saying, "You all know that abortion is wrong, don't you? You all need to read your bibles, and learn something. Do the churches you attend support abortion...I'll bet they do. You all need to start praying for wisdom, and repent".

Problem with the above, is that nobody had even commented yet within my hypothetical example, nor expressed that abortion is okay, or no big deal, etc., so my comment would sound kind of out there, and quite the presumption...

That’s the problem. So does your church.

For someone who praised Trump as a member of the body of Christ your indignation against remarriage seems duplicit as he has been married 3 times.

You don't know me or my church and more than likely you don't know anyone else here or their church, so for you to condemn us for something about which you are completely ignorant makes you one who is also an accuser of the brethren. Not good company.

No one here has defended remarriage after divorce and last I knew it was not considered the unpardonable sin. You said your soap box no need to condemn the brethren falsely.

Rude is defined as offensively impolite or ill-mannered. You stated ladybug and "her church" were fine with with violation of Scripture and you have NO CLUE what you're talking about. If a stranger came up to you and started falsely accusing you would you not think them rude?

Why UPS, I didn’t know you were the appointed gatekeeper. But I accept you appointment and your farewell.

I wasn’t being rude to ladybug. But I hope it jolts you out of pablum Christianity.

For all your piety, would you have been just as offended if sin was trivialised? And Gods direct commands were changed so the church could build its own alter?

God says that only death breaks the marriage bond. All remarriages are adulterous. But the church allows an exception.

The issue isn’t divorce. Issue is, that God spoke specifically on this and declared a sin!

Ask anyone here, & they’ll tell you they’re against divorce. That’s the problem. So does your church.

Remarriage is sin. Anyone married or about to, can never remarry as long as either lives, only separates. You believe that?

Everyone knows your views on Trump abortion gays. But on this sin?
Today the church will council christians to sin against God. Have you stood up and loudly against the church so others would not fall? And many more will fall not knowing different.
There is no neutral position. No voice is a voice FOR
I will not be a party to this. I will declare it, for God has declared it

Not all will see, if even you. You hav a bible, go on your knees and figure it out for yourself.

Apparently in your time here, CV, you have far surpassed any of us in your growth in grace.

We are said to be part of the vast majority of those who don’t comprehend God’s Word, a bunch of compromisers
who are nothing more than glib Christians that don’t cherish our Lord.

We do sadly admit that our “clique” here is made up of a bunch of publicans and sinners that though saved by the grace of God yet as our Lord showed us, have feet that need daily washings from inward corruption, worldly influence, the attacks of the devil and a heart that deceives us. We find ourselves far too often in I John 1:9 and Psalm 38:18 and crying out pardon mine iniquity for it is great.

Alas, we have seemed to corrupted even you into making a completely false accusation against dear sister ladybug, my brethren how can these things be?

Surely, somewhere out there is a group of believers that meet from various parts of the U.S. and abroad that live much more soberly, godly, and righteously in this present world than us with whom you can make a connection. Thanks for deigning to spend time here, may your journey to fairer websites be fruitful.

I stand by that. I challenged you to look at scripture and make that decision. But I also accept if you want out, that’s ok too. Either way.

I stand by that people here are married to their tradition of religiosity. Trump is no different in that he is la product of the spiritual environment around himi. Even if it stands against God. No different to anyone here.

My challenge still stands for anyone who wants to look honestly at scripture and see wether it’s God or a church tradition they are tied to.

I wasn’t being rude. I asked if you would join a church that promoted adultry? Knowing adultry is sin against God. An honest question.
When Jesus said to nichdemus, you must be born again, it appeared just as as insensitive since nicodemus had just complimented him. Did Jesus not know nicodemus was a Pharisee a a ruling council in the synagogue. Nicodemus knee more then Jesus about how to get to heaven. In the end, it was him who asked for the body and spent his fortune on burial. Pride can be deceiving when your ego is sensitive .

Hey CV, I don't think I could have been any more friendly with you, or laid out my thoughts any better, which summed up =
a big, I don't know for certain.

Anyway, your comment above is implying that people here will back each other up, even if they have opposing views on something, which they'll change-up, on demand, in order to gang up on someone. I can't compete with anyone who gets that thought into their head, so I'm out, on this, or any other topic.

Nobody has come against you in a personal way, but you, on the other hand, here and elsewhere, offer up condscending remarks to anyone who comments on something that you happen disagree with, Ladybug, for example, yet you speak with authority on the lack of Christianity of those here.

Unless you repent you will perish

Christopher, ladybug frank SC
I am issuing you a challenge. Frank, those verses you quoted, is God serious? Do you truly believe that?

Only God knows Trums faith and how he finishes.
I will say this. Most people here who claim to know Christ are also compromisers worst then Trump because of the light they have received. Don’t kid yourself, these are glib christians who would toss Christ for less then what trump would.
I xm challenging you to have an honest look at Gods word and tell me if your clique here loves Christ or their tradition they’re married to.

Iif Trump is compromisingg. Would you go to a church that supports aadultry? If so, where was you repentance then?

Ladybug and I see just a little different on Trump, but, we also see much of the same. I tend to leave things at this: There is one of two scenarios going on...1) Trump is doing, and saying whatever needs to be said and done in order to hold onto his enormous, make or break, Evangelical voter base for round two,

I pick the above as the true scenario! All Christians are works in progress and must undergo sanctification. But, IMO Trump is a rich entrepreneur and a politician and nothing more. Why we give the rich and famous a pass is something I have never understood.

Luke 13:3 - I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Acts 3:19 - Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

Acts 2:38 - Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Thank you for the input, Christopher, ladybug and CV.

There are many who believe that they are Christian but are self deceived.
It is concerning that Trump downplays forgiveness and depends on his own efforts.
However green one may be, the understanding of forgiveness and ones lack of self sufficiency in relation to faith are necessary foundational truths.
One who thinks that they are well, do not see the need for a Physician.

Let me end with this:

Based solely upon only what we are able to see and hear over the years, if this had never become a topic of discussion, and if there were no evangelicals in the picture, no spititual advisors, and if he had never uttered any bit of scripture, or made references to God, or to prayer etc., etc., and I only had the man, himself, to look at, with everything else being out of the picture; his claim to be Protestant, and belief in God, etc., etc., it would never enter into my mind that Trump may be a born again Christian. This is how I would see things with everything else, along with any claims, being stripped away, so that I could just see the man, and his actions and words, etc.

...CV, twice now you've said that you believe that Trump will succumb; he'll say, Uncle. Were you speaking of the pressures of the political arena itself; giving in to the left's demands, or were you speaking to his current "Christian" struggle, and saying he'll probably fail; choosing the evils of politics over God?

Bottomline is that his public fruits don't convince me that we have a born again Christian as our Commander in Cheif, in any respect, but I also can't say that we don't, regardless of appearances, because I have no idea how God is working on him, if He even is. We'll just have to wait and see, I guess, but I see a politician, a businessman, and someone who knows how to work a crowd. I see, and hear no evidence of a new creature in Christ, but admittedly, all I know is limited to the TV and radio, which is hardly enough to make any sort of an information rich judgement.

...Everything that Ladybug quoted may sound good, to an extent, in that some can use his comments to say that Trump is trying, but just green, and confused, but those very same comments can be rattled off by anyone who claims to believe in the God of the Bible, while also labelling themselves as being Christian as well.
So, is Trump a true, blue born again Christian, but simply green and confused, because he claims the childhood label of, Protestant, believes in, and mentions God in a speech or two, throws his evangelical voting block a bone or two, and is against abortion, but only up to the point of going past a certain range of time, etc.? I don't know his personal life, but his public fruits are that of someone who gives everyone just enough to keep them sort of happy, as in, well, at least it's something, while also completely compromising in other areas, such as his support for the LGBTQ agenda, for example. On one hand, he says, no transgenders in our military branches (an example of tossing a bone to the evangelical base), while at the same time, voicing his support to other sodomite agendas, etc.

Good morning, CV...I'm not sure what inspired the question, or the bet you placed above, on a church that Ladybug may, or may not attend.

Ladybug and I see just a little different on Trump, but, we also see much of the same. I tend to leave things at this: There is one of two scenarios going on...1) Trump is doing, and saying whatever needs to be said and done in order to hold onto his enormous, make or break, Evangelical voter base for round two, or, 2) He is as green as green can be, has surrounded himself with many of the wrong people, who are causing nothing but spiritual confusion, and if he is truly seeking, then, only God will be able to break through to his still confused mind. Bottomline for me is that I don't know who God is working on, no matter what appearances may dictate.

On the other side of things, green or not, anyone who is born again will want to immerse themself in God; in His Word...His instruction book to find out what He wants from them, what He expects from them, How He expects them to live, and in general, how God defines what it means to be a Christian; how we're to live, speak, carry ourselves, think, act, react, and what obediance to God entails, and so much more.

Does it bother you that someone who is new and doesn’t know the vernacular is mocked condescendingly by ‘christians’? Repentance is a verb - an act of the heart not a magical incantation word.

Would you go to a church that advocates adultry? I bet you do. What right then do you have to make any kind of judgement. From darkness, preachers and seasoned christians make proclamations on others. These are the ones without excuse and judgement should fall upon. On another thread I mentioned divorce. The issue isn’t divorce, it is the utter hypocrisy and darkness that some have conspired to join in against God. Deliberate ignorance isn’t an excuse. If the church is guilty, you are without excuse.

“I am a religious person. People are so shocked when they find this out—I’m Protestant. I’m Presbyterian.”

“I go to church. I love God and I love my church,” Trump added.
He said that his pastor was the late motivational speaker Norman Vincent Peale, who was known for his teachings on the “power of positive thinking.”

“He was so great,” Trump said. “He would give a sermon, and you’d never wanted to leave…. I still remember his sermons. It was unbelievable.”
“But have you ever asked God for forgiveness?” Luntz repeated, evoking laughter from the audience. "I am not sure I have. I just go on and try to do a better job from there. I don’t think so,” Trump stated. “I think if I do something wrong, I think I just try and make it right. I don’t bring God into that picture. I don’t.” “I go to communion, and that’s asking for forgiveness in my opinion,” Trump responded.

SC I believe Trump recognises the God of the bible and responds very positively to it. He’s a baby in his faith. When I was new, I couldn’t tell a Pentecostal from ecumenical ,.... Trump is unlike that last guy who played a christian because America wasn’t ready for a foreign born Muslim. They are now!

I think Trump will eventually succumb to the powers that swirl around that level. We will still see Rep vs Dem conflicts. What you won’t see is anything that is sacrosanct to the power at the back. I don’t think Trump can stay outside that and prevail. He’ll say uncle.

sc  Find all comments by sc do you arrive at the conclusion that he has a fear of God?

America should be grateful for the grace which God has extended to it. We certainly are not worthy and it would be very easy to see how foreign countries would look at us and not see us to be anywhere near a "Christian" nation.
Killing babies,sacrificing its children to immorality,mocking God,encouraging adultery,fornication,blasphemy,etc...
I see judgment on us and we have and have had just the leaders that we do deserve.

On the whole, a great leader who fears God and wants to do good by the people he’s been called to lead.

Trump is not my saviour. He’s not a theologian. But by the grace of God, he wants to restore America to the favour it enjoyed with the one true God it once knew, when America truly was under Gods protection and blessings. No other country in the world is good enough to kiss the ground that USA stands on.
What a refreshing u-turn Trump is from the last foreigner, the one in whom no truth ever dwelt.

Pray for the president. Pray for Israel, the only true friend America has in this world. Until our Lord restores his city in the holy land, we’ve never known of a better country.
