Franklin Graham Returns Fire after Lady Gaga Calls Mike Pence 'Worst Representation' of Christianity

Graham took to Facebook to comment on the issue writing, “Lady Gaga, Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, may be a very talented singer and actress, but her comments about Vice President Mike Pence and Second Lady Karen Pence are misguided and unfortunate.”

He continued, “As Christians, following Christ means following the teachings of God’s Word. The Bible makes it clear that homosexuality is a sin—among many others—and they all have a cost. We are to seek to live our lives in obedience to His Word. He set the rules, not us; He is the one who defined sin, and out of His love and mercy, He provided a remedy for sin—all sin—through repentance and faith in His Son, Jesus Christ.”

“I know Vice President Mike Pence and Mrs. Pence, and, to me, the way they conduct their lives and exhibit their faith make them the best kind of Christian. What a blessing they are to our nation,” he concluded. ...

An empty truism. My point was, I thought you didn't like conservative extremists. So Goldwater hated Nixon and Falwell. Big deal; who didn't? This was all you heard from the mainstream media.

Goldwater wasn't perfect, Neil, as none of us are for that matter

Some more of his quotes:

"I think every good Christian ought to kick Falwell right in the ...."

"Nixon was the most dishonest individual I have ever met in my life. He lied to his wife, his family, his friends, his colleagues in the Congress, lifetime members of his own political party, the American people and the world."

Barry Goldwater as pointed in Brainy Quote

Neil, the quote you gave, certainly got Barry into a lot of trouble, that made the Johnson tv advertisement that showed of young girl holding a flower with an atomic mushroom cloud behind her, much more effective attack against him.

In:

https://tinyurl.com/yazbt5cc "Excerpts from Goldwater Remarks"

You will find that he complimented Sandra Day O'Connor. He may have corrected some misperceptions about her, but one thing he didn't mention is that she supported school vouchers, an idea I'm thoroughly against, and I still remember her role in that. đź‘Ž

"Rational, sane conservatives" say things like this:
"I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue!"

Does knowledge puffeth up as in one ridiculing another brother's name when one is in disagreement, Tim?
The names "Jim" and "Tim" are quite close...calling "Tim" "Timiny" wouldn't be very polite, would it?

Did you read the above one by Goldwater?, since it's an excerpt of his speech to the Senate, it's short. Well its fairly short anyway.

I am beginning to appreciate Barry Goldwater more all the time. Oh, he was not a member of the lunatic, radical right-wing Fringe! He was actually a rational, sane conservative. đź‘Ť

The White Iman Graham wants to do to the United States what the Catholics and Muslims have done to the countries that they control.

I have a feeling you never have read,

https://tinyurl.com/yapvm8uy (The Deadly Dangers of Moralism) by John MacArthur? I would suggest you do and if you want a more moral America get more people to become Christian, Timothy.

Sure can’t have religion (and morality) mixing with politics, can we Jiminy? Irreligion and immorality, no problemo—as long as nothing we do smacks of righteousness. Have I remembered to tell you lately that you’re nuts?

Tim Rymel wrote:
Goldwater’s political strategist, Paul Weyrich, was looking for ways to unite the political right. He found it by tapping into the largest voting block in America: unregistered conservative and fundamentalist Christians.

Goldwater was opposed to the idea from the beginning. The New York Times reported a 1981 speech he gave to the U.S. Senate, which said in part:

"On religious issues there can be little or no compromise. There is no position on which people are so immovable as their religious beliefs… The religious factions that are growing throughout our land are not using their religious clout without wisdom. They are trying to force government leaders into following their position 100 percent. If you disagree with these religious groups on a particular moral issue, they complain, they threaten you with a loss of money or votes or both."
[ https://tinyurl.com/yazbt5cc "Excerpts from Goldwater Remarks" ]. [ Read đź‘Ť]

In spite of Goldwater’s warnings, Weyrich, over a 35-year period, “created or co-founded many of the most prominent conservative organizations in the political and religious arenas,” says Baldock.

Christians care too much about what these "Christian" celebrities and their cronies think or say.
They all have an agenda and they know how to sell it.

Thinking the same thoughts as how the Clintons have millions, I forget how much Bill makes on his speeches. Nothing said about that. And he blasts the media yet criticizing even this some do. Go figure.

Jim, Barack Obama has more than 13 times as much money as Franklin Graham, but you’ve never said a word about BHO’s failure to maintain a respectable level of poverty. Whassup with that?

"...in supposing that everything which produced gain was consistent with religion, or that they could infallibly judge of the moral quality of any course of life by its contributing to outward prosperity. Religion will uniformly lead to that which conduces to prosperity; but it does not follow that every way of making money is therefore a part of piety. It is possible, also, that in some way they hoped for "gain" to themselves by inculcating those principles. It may be remarked here, that this is not an uncommon maxim practically among men--that "gain is godliness." The whole object of life with them is to make money; the rule by which they judge of everything is by its tendency to produce gain; and their whole religion may be summed up in this, that they live for gain. Wealth is the real object of pursuit; but it is often with them cloaked under the pretence of piety. They have no more religion than they suppose will contribute to this object; they judge of the nature and value of every maxim by its tendency to make men prosperous in their worldly business; they have as much as they suppose will promote their pecuniary interest, and they sacrifice every principle of religion which they suppose would conflict with their earthly advancement...."Barnes

For better (proclaiming the gospel of grace in Christ alone) or for worse (rampant eucumenicalism at crusades), Franklin Graham has followed in his father's foot steps in many ways except that he does not try to curry favor with the media or elites if it goes against conscience.

I wonder if most of the arm chair theologians that comment on here in the safety of their anonimity would do the same if anyone in the world cared to listen.

The world has been waiting with bated breath for Lady Gaga's judgment.

Lady Gaga appears to have gone completely gaga making any judgment about religion with the wealth of Roman theological expertise she has.

Quote:-
"Lady Gaga has never been shy about religious issues. She was raised Catholic, and she still believes in God, but she openly rejects institutionalized religion. Her belief in Heaven reflects Universalist thought, as she believes that everyone will go there when they die. The belief in the power of the individual is prevalent all throughout her music, and her hope is that she is "teaching people to worship themselves."
