Young Men with High Porn Consumption Are Less Likely to Marry
A new study shows that men who watch an “excessive” amount of pornography are less likely to get married. The study, which will be published in Sexuality & Culture, focused on the link between pornography use and marriage rates among young men.
The study, written by Samuel L. Perry from the Department of Sociology at the University of Oklahoma and Kyle C. Longest from the Department of Sociology at Furman University, also found that pornography use had no effect on marriage rates among young women.
The authors also reported that religious commitment does not change the pornography viewing among young men. The authors said, “Contrary to our expectations, religious commitment did not moderate the link between frequent pornography consumption and marriage entry for either men or women.”...
“I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.”
There are many verses in the Bible that deal with pornography and the like. Even Job made a covenant with his eyes. Of course, this is a huge problem that gets little attention. It is no wonder that many men do not want to marry or have normal relationships. It's also no wonder that there is a big market for male enhancement products. People who get bound up in porn have a much more difficult time functioning properly.
The scourge of pornography and our culture that is saturated with it is damaging men, women, and children. There are voices within the UK that are calling it a public health emergency. It leads to all sorts of horrendous things, like sinning against the Lord and one's wife or husband, out of wedlock sexual encounters with actual people, abortion, child abuse, and the further destruction of marriage. Perhaps this is why more young people are choosing not to marry?
It often seems like Diana worship, worshipping some false god of sensuality and sex like some fertility rite. But instead of fertility and growth it brings destruction and death.
May the Lord end this scourge on our society. May the Lord call more people to Himself. And make He break those bonds of the addict...He is able beyond all the religious ceremonies and attendence of this earth.
