Ark of the Covenant may be hidden in Africa

While the idea that the Ark was taken to Ethiopia is not new, there has been renewed interest after evidence was unearthed by the Bible Archaeology, Search & Exploration Institute (BASE).

Christian monks in the African country have long claimed the Ark is being kept under guard at the Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion in Axum.

In a blog post on the organization’s website it said: "As unusual as this may sound, the BASE team has uncovered compelling evidence that the Ark may well have been spirited up the Nile River to an eventual resting place in the remote highlands of ancient Kush — modern-day Ethiopia.”

According to their research, the Ark was taken out of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem during the reign of Manasseh, where it was first taken to a Jewish colony on Elephantine Island in Egypt. ...

“But isn't this relic matter a little overdone? We find a piece of the true cross in every old church we go into, and some of the nails that held it together. I would not like to be positive, but I think we have seen as much as a keg of these nails. Then there is the crown of thorns; they have part of one in Sainte Chapelle, in Paris, and part of one also in Notre Dame. And as for bones of St. Denis, I feel certain we have seen enough of them to duplicate him if necessary.”
—Mark Twain, “The Innocents Abroad”

Just goes to prove how all of these past, and present, charlatans have duped so many over the years. Some, like Ron Wyatt, for example, who called himself a Christian, 7th day Adventist, was guilty of colossal frauds, but these types are often just believed, because after all, a "Christian" would never tell a lie, right?

Then, you got the church of Rome who claims to have all sorts of relics that are basically bowed down to and worshipped, most of which are probably frauds as well. Mankind has never done well with religious relics, and have treated them as if they hold some sort of mystical powers from on high.

He removed the high places, and broke the images, and cut down the idol poles, and broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made: for until those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.

Benji, do you ever watch Pawn Stars? Some guy hocked the brazen serpent for 350 bucks just a week or so ago.
By the way, what exactly is a monk? Is that a monkey that can’t have children?

Benji has one of those old transistor superheterodyne radios which is permanently tuned to Vatican Radio, the pope's propaganda outlet.

Hi Benji, where did you get that information from, as far as the relics, and the larger finds? The claims by those who have claimed to find some of these things over the years have been proven to be hoaxes, and outright lies in most cases, or even, mistaken identity, like with the alleged ark sightings, etc.

I don't know if anyone's made a claim since, but I listened to a guy named, Bob Cornuke, years ago who claimed to have found, or seen Noah's Ark on the Iranian Takht-e Suleiman ("Throne of Solomon") or Mount Suleiman in the Alborz Mountains. I just had to look the location up, but seems to me that a discovered ark, either ark, would be pretty big news...

The ark MAY be in a trailer park in Arkansas. Elvis Presley MAY be guarding it when he isn’t busy eating Ding Dongs and watching reruns of Andy Griffith. Space aliens MAY have landed in Nebraska. Oh wait—the last item has actually been confirmed.

His editor must have been as Biblically challenged as Mark Twain/Samuel Clemens himself. I'm not so sure he was all that innocent, at home or abroad.

I'll have to check that one out, though. Thanks, Brother!

I'll go with the Rev 11 option.

A bunch of monks lack the qualifications to care for such a piece. No one is qualified to even move it; how could it have gotten there? Levites had to carry it; consider David and his initial effort of copying the Philistines instead of checking the Law. Levites would have had to carry it there then hand it off to someone to care for it later. Unplausible. Much more likely it can be found in Zion in heaven in the New Jerusalem.

Mark Twain couldn't have seen pieces of Solomon's Temple...that was destroyed by the Babylonians. Maybe he saw pieces of Herod's Temple...

In the 1990s , the Clintons acquired the ark in exchange for a week in the Lincoln bedroom. Four years ago, they sold it to the Russians, hiding it in a shipment of uranium.

Very interesting. So much history lost, especially under the Dome these days where the Muslims still excavate, destroy, and throw any artifacts uncovered, into the dirt outside for all to see.

I was aware of the usual few, but didn't know how many myself until I started digging around.

Thanks for the list; I didn't know there were so many claims. It reminds me of the "Snipe Hunt," a prank in which a rookie (e.g. in the Army, Navy, or Boy Scouts) is told to find something that doesn't exist, so everyone can mock him afterwards.

...Then, years later, Nebuchadnezzar raids the temple, and steals away anything of value.

Revelation 11:19 mentions the ark being in Heaven, but the earthly ark Moses constructed probably isn't the same one seen in John's vision since the tabernacle articles were mere copies of the Heavenly things, and the sanctuary itself was a mere copy and shadow of what is in Heaven.

So, there we have it...a big, who knows. 😊

A topic replete with nothing but wild, and fanciful theories, so it's hard for me to find interesting.

I watched a documentary years ago about the ark being at Lady of Mt Zion, in Axum Ethiopia, and guarded by the monks there. They said that nobody is allowed to go behind the curtain in the shack where it supposedly rests.

Another claim is by the Irish, who claim it's buried under their Hill of Tara, which gave rise to the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow legend.

Then there's good 'ole, Ron Wyatt, who claims he saw the ark buried under Mt Calvary, and, Tom Crotser, claiming he saw it on Mt Pisgah near Mt Nebo.

A couple of Rabbi's claim it's buried under the temple mount, where the Dome of the rock now sits.

2 Maccabees claims that Jeremiah hid the ark in a room of a cave and sealed it, but those who were suppose to mark its location, couldn't find it, so it remained lost after.

A copper scroll found at Qumran, is thought to be a treasure map, and possibly the record mentioned in 2 Maccabees, and it lists the ark, among other artifacts, but not all of the landmarks in it have been found.

King Josiah of Judah, ordering the ark be returned to the temple in Jersulam, is the last time its location is mentioned in scripture.

The Smithsonian magazine had a lengthy article about this idea that the ark was in Ethiopia.

https://tinyurl.com/y9a8837a (Keepers of the Lost Ark?)

It had a lot of good historical material on Ethiopia, but their ark reminds me much of Catholic relics.
