SBC Says Women Not Barred From Presidency, Pastor Dwight McKissic Suggests Beth Moore
The Southern Baptist Convention said Thursday that apart from being a member of a church adhering to denominational standards, there is no barrier to a woman becoming the face of America's largest Protestant denomination.
"Other than being a member of a church that cooperates with the Convention, I am aware of no SBC constitution or bylaw statement that would prohibit the election of a woman as SBC president," Roger 'Sing' Oldham, vice president for convention communications and relations, told The Christian Post in a statement Thursday.
The declaration from the SBC comes as leading conservative voice for civil rights and pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas, Dwight McKissic, suggested on Saturday that electing a woman to the presidency of the Southern Baptist Convention like prominent evangelical founder of Living Proof Ministries, Beth Moore, could go a long way in healing...

If the pastor is an just another elder in the church, why does he have a specific title and function separate from the other elders? There is no separate office of pastor.
The title comes from the Word of God, you will have to take it up with Him. The word is otherwise translated sheperd which designates a leader. Passages that speak to bishops, elders, sheperds, all apply to the pastor.
This black Pastor is pushing some New Covenant ideas. Even if you want to consider the Southern Baptist Convention a paralegal Church organization it still should follow the practices of the Bible. The role of women is spelled out in the Bible, and I think the idea of racism is also attacked there
The problem of racism for instance is a problem for both Black and Whites in the SBC, [URL=https://tinyurl.com/yaz3aphs]]]https://tinyurl.com/yaz3aphs (Southern Baptists and the Sin of Racism)[/URL]. I would be surprised if one checked with the Black pastor's congregants he/we would find that they do not like women in positions that are not Biblical either! Several black pastors especially including this one should check their Bibles but also check the opinions of their congregations. They just might find they are out of step.
Norm wrote: And I did not say you could not find the word pastor in the Bible. I said you cannot find the office of pastor in the Bible. This is not establishing the office of pastor, but simply referring to a shepard.
that office simply refers to a position and you are merely parsing words. Pastor, shepherd, undersheperd, elder. bishop are terms for leaders in the church and they are sanctioned by Scripture.
The churches mentioned in Revelation are groups of believers within the church. When I mentioned religious organizations I was referring to religions (Methodist, Lutheran, Roman Catholic) etc.
And I did not say you could not find the word pastor in the Bible. I said you cannot find the office of pastor in the Bible. The word pastor in Ephesians 4:11 is referring to an elder. This is not establishing the office of pastor, but simply referring to a shepard.

Are you kidding? There are 7 churches(religious organizations) that are mentioned in the Book of Revelation. And Ephesians 4:11 mentions pastors.
The popery of the SBC is what needs to change. Each congregation is an Independent body of believers. The Calvinists wants to point us to a popish format - why do you not think their desires to destroy fundamentalism smells of a Jesuit conspiracy. â we have nothing to show for the fundamentalist take over, from the 1980âs- JD Greear. Really JD , the purpose of the fundamentalist was to eliminate the liberal persuasion from the seminars, the question of biblical inerrancy had to be resolved once for all. But doctrine without guidance from the one who saved you is legalism. And opening the door to women in leadership roles in areas of being a pastor not grounded in scripture . That doesnât negate the benefit the ability of husbands and wives to work as a leadership team, but the head is always the man. But the smoldering anger that the reformed crowd has against the fundamentalist leaders in large churches is thick with venom.
When âpossibleâ a woman should seek to be a mother and/or a wife. If she has spare time, then she should seek to do charitable work. That should be what a woman desires and what the church and Christian men should teach is their godly roles.
Christianity has been around for approximately 2,000 years and we should ask ourselves why those roles arenât the norm today as they were 2,000 or even 200 years ago. Did God suddenly change His mind and say it was okay for women to be church or even secular leaders? If He did, then why havenât the roles of men changed at all? Do any of us believe that Paul was a misogynist or that societal mores can trump scripture? How many of us pick and choose what to follow?
Psalms 119:89 LAMED. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.
Psalms 119:160 Thy word [is] true [from] the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments [endureth] for ever.
Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
Malachie 3:6 For I [am] the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
Many Christian men simply go along with these changing roles because they have forgotten what it means to take tough stances and their consciences have become seared.
The Bible says nothing about religious organizations, (since there were not to be any), so I wonder how some come to the conclusion that the Bible addresses leadership of religious organizations (which the SBC is). Furthermore, the Bible shows no office of pastor but few have a problem has pastors.

Beth Moore has been exposed in love by what she has taught through her own twisted theology;
They need to ignore the nonsense of women leaders and embracing queersâđ
Emma Green wrote: At times, political differences can cause tension in congregations, [Russell] Moore said. âI remember being a church one time where a young man, maybe 14 years old, came down to the front and was talking to meâAfrican American young man, it was the first time he had ever been to churchâand he was asking me questions about heaven. He was wearing an Obama t-shirt. But this man in the church, an elderly white man, walked by and said, âYou need to get a different t-shirt.â
âAnd my response was to say, âHere is this kid, his first time in church, asking how to inherit eternal life, and all this guy cared about was his t-shirt.ââ
....Itâs one thing to aim to purge a manâs heart of ill will toward his black or white brothers in Christ. Itâs quite another to try to rectify the after-effects of 250 years of slavery and the decades of Jim Crow that followed. For Southern Baptists, itâs ironic to embrace the former but ignore the latter, for a simple reason: Their denomination helped define the history of American racism....

Unfortunately, the SBC is going the same way as the old mainstream denominations went in the USA, and also in my own country of Britain.
However, Beth Moore is not only dangerous for the SBC leadership because she is a woman, and that it is forbidden in the New Testament for a woman to be a leader, president, pastor, elder or any leading position in a church or denomination which involves teaching or leading men or a mixed congregation.
She is a known proponent of such things as contemplative prayer, and other spiritual activities that detract from the supremacy of the Word of God.
That is possibly the most dangerous aspect of this possible appointment.
Ok so, Albert Mohler and J D Greear indicate that fundamental take over for the SBC netted no gain in baptisms or missions. But a study showed in the mid 1940âs the were more baptisms and members joining than at any time noted. An to pontificate that SBC leaders just got the fat head and their to blame, begs the question, will Mohler and Greear give an â aw shucks â if you want me as your leader, Iâll step aside and let little old Beth Moore be our leader, and weâll help her be successful. Now, which leader is vying to be in charge. Which leader says, pick me? Mohler, Moore and JD Greear will excellerate the collapse of the denomination, and being good Calvinists, will tilt towards God knew all along we werenât right with the Lord, and he cleaned our clocks. God is sovereign, and as John Piper has said, better to be a martyr at a school shooting that to be up and saving your own life and those around you.
Adam left Eve to eat of the tree of knowledge. Eve was deceived by the serpent not adam. Now men in the church stands and looks at women in charge over the church. Beth moore is a false teacher has no gift to preach Christ faitfully because this gift come from the Holy Spirit who said to women to be silent in the church. A women in charge as president of SBC in disobedience... o boy here comes trouble.
