Universities strive for 'Christmas'-free campuses

As another Christmas quickly approaches, colleges across the country are issuing their annual guidelines on how to make the season as inclusive as possible.

At the University of California, Irvine, for instance, individual departments are encouraged to “focus on celebrating a special occasion, instead of a specific holiday,” suggesting that they have a “year-end celebration” or celebrate “seasonal themes such as fall, winter, or spring.”

It is an astonishing narrative bro. A bit like:

John 16:2-3 KJV
(2)  They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
(3)  And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.

Not knowing the Father nor the Lord Jesus Christ can lead to much religious drama, including the killing of the saints by blind Pharisees, of which there is an equivalent post-scripture.

I love reading that, "Do you also want to become his disciples?" That man was a good witness without realising it.

Jesus said, "For judgment I came into this world, that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind"

To be His disciple we must overcome the fear of man, especially religious Pharisees, and personally know/own the Fear of God. IMHO this is so important the Spirit moved Paul to write: If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ
One example of being sabotaged by the fear of being driven away by men is this:
The Jews did not believe that he had been blind and had received his sight, until they called the parents of the man who had received his sight and asked them, “Is this your son, who you say was born blind? How then does he now see?” His parents answered, “We know that this is our son and that he was born blind. But how he now sees we do not know, nor do we know who opened his eyes. Ask him; he is of age. He will speak for himself.” (His parents said these things because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had already agreed that if anyone should confess Jesus to be Christ, he was to be put out of the synagogue.) Therefore his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.”
John 9:18-24

Pastor Mike Fabarez explains why you can celebrate this Christmas season
Did Jesus celebrate man-made holidays?

Jn10:"22 And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.
23 And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch."

A belated happy Hanukkah 😉

Gill"this was the feast of dedication, appointed by Judas Maccabaeus and his brethren, on account of the purging the temple, and renewing the altar, after the profanation of them by Antiochus; which feast lasted eight days, and began on the twenty fifth of the month Cisleu, which answers to part of our December; see the Apocrypha:

"Now on the five and twentieth day of the ninth month, which is called the month Casleu, in the hundred forty and eighth year, they rose up betimes in the morning,... And so they kept the dedication of the altar eight days and offered burnt offerings with gladness, and sacrificed the sacrifice of deliverance and praise.... Moreover Judas and his brethren with the whole congregation of Israel ordained, that the days of the dedication of the altar should be kept in their season from year to year by the space of eight days, from the five and twentieth day of the month Casleu, with mirth and gladness."1Mac4:52-59"

Oh boy, just finished watching the conference video....

]]THE VALUE OF SINNERS

....and found it most helpful! In fact, I found it very beneficial and instructional.

Ryan says that if our practice is incorrect, it is because our theology is incorrect. That in itself explains why much "evangelism" today is hardly biblical evangelism, hardly the sort that JESUS engaged in.

Today at drop-in we shall be watching the last four chapters of Matthew's gospel, which include the Great Commission, and I will no doubt see it with a new vision. So I thank you bro for linking up this message, I would recommend anyone to watch it and understand better the value of a soul.

And yep, I'm all in favour of a big celebration when the lost sheep is found, the lost coin is found, the lost son returns. If God celebrates such a thing, the church ought to also.

Yes, a disciple is to become as his Teacher.

So that when sinners we are in contact with, evaluate our character, seeing our life lived before them on a daily basis, our conversation, our attitude, our words, our honesty, our forthrightness, our stability, our trustworthiness and loyalty, our obedience to God, our great faith in Jesus Christ, our joy, they might say that we remind them every day of.....

.....JESUS.

Or do they look at me and are reminded of the religious Pharisees, cold, hard, doctrinaire, condemnatory, holier-than-thou, censorious.

Oh boy.

Brother, today I hope to watch the second half of Ryan Fullerton's conference message. It is 72 mins total, and I can no longer do that at one stretch.

Perfect, and that's how we should all feel within, and be jumping up and down like over-excited children. Unfortunately, this world, the struggles of daily life, and the not-so-nice at times inhabitants, really take their toll. Thank God for God, along with the fact that this was never our home...only passing on through to an eternity with The One who loved us so much, before we even were, that He chose to suffer through unimaginable emotional and physical torment and pain so that we could be together with Him on one fine day. Now, how about that.

I have actual "versions" that surpass that level of bizarro-ville

& it goes downhill from there.

"Rare translation in 1970's vernacular"

hippie phrases such as "rap," "far out," "dig it," etc.
Throughout
"What's left to say? If the Father's on our side, who cares who's against us?" (from Rom 8:31)

Ah yes, bro! The snippet I posted up is an extract from that sermon. I am currently watching it now.

I do believe I get your drift, what it is you would promote, how you wish to see others blessed. For eg.

Romans 8:29 KJV
(29)  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Our predestination is "to be conformed" to Christ; that is, we are to become like Jesus. We see what Jesus was like, by reading the four gospels. He was the perfect Man, living a perfect life, and we are to strive to become like that.

I do know that in mine own life since conversion, I have spent an inordinate amount of time with books or discussing theology, and as I got older as a Christian I spent less and less time with sinners. In fact, at one point, the Lord even told me that I was becoming more like a Pharisee than a disciple. Is this what concerns you bro?

Return to 300 yrs of Only Bible
Satan’s strategy is in various ways to sow doubt in our minds concerning the Word of God.
What was the result of Satan’s strategy? We see it in the woman’s response to the serpent.‘We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die’ (Gen 3.2–3).
That was the new text. The original text which God had given was altered. Three things happened:
Omission: Eve omitted the words ‘every’ (‘every tree’) and ‘freely’ (‘freely eat’). Addition: Eve added the words ‘neither shall ye touch it’.
Substitution: Eve substituted the words ‘lest ye die’ for ‘thou shalt surely die’.
Thus was born the first ‘revised version’ of the Word of God. It is the paradigm for Satan’s attempts down through history to nullify the Word of God.
This strategy was seen..as Expurgated Satanic version
"angels charge over thee, to keep thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. (See Luke 4.9–11)
Satan misquote
original?
"For he shall give his angels charge over thee,
to keep thee in all thy ways."

The term "Christian" was originally used derisively to poke fun at the "little Christs" popping up all over the Roman Empire. Believers were not insulted by it, but counted it a badge of honor to be associated with their Savior in such a manner. Likewise I count it a signal honor to be derisively referred to as a "KJV Onlyist." There will come a day when others will wish they had joined us.

Sure I smell TULIPs in the verses you quote.
1 Cor 15:3,4 - who is the us that Christ died for? It is those who have come to believe!
Heb 5:8,9 the source of salvation to all who obey him - precisely. Who will obey? The natural man who is averse to the things of God? How does the natural man, who is dead in sins and trespasses come to life without God working in his life? This is the grace that TULIP teaches about.
Luke 6:46 - More applicable to you than you think.
1 Timothy 1:5,6 - Discussing the central truths about God's glorious grace in Jesus Christ and how He determined to save innumerable souls from every tribe, tongue and nation is hardly turning aside to fruitless discussion. Your quoting this verse exposes your impiety and shallowness.

Ninnie memo to the staff at University of California, Irvine, instructing employees to “ensure that office celebrations are not indirectly celebrating a religious holiday.” That one little word, “indirectly,” opens the door to a whole fiesta of inanity. What can you possibly do that some moron cannot spin as “indirectly celebrating” Christmas—which is, in case you didn’t know, is a holiday making the birth of Jesus Christ? How indirect is indirect? Wearing red and green checked socks? Atheists are very touchy about such things!

To make sure there’s no hint of Christianity involved, and to guarantee “inclusiveness” by excluding Christianity, the university exhorts its peons to “display diverse symbols.” We wonder how much “diversity” would suffice, bearing in mind at all times that none of it shall in any way refer to—ooh!—“religion.” And what if you offend, indirectly, by leaving something out? With all the “genders” touted by academics these days, that would be pretty easy to do. “You dastard! Where’s the symbol of my gender? You left it out on purpose, just to hurt me!” Maybe it’s a gender no one else has heard of yet—but ignorance is worse than no defense at all.

Other colleges—and more have shifted into full Druid mode

When the original 1611 King James Bible came out these words
"the love OF GOD" were NOT in italics because they are in the Greek text that underlies the KJB; they still are. It wasn't until 1769 that a man named Mr. Blayney had them placed in italics. Notice this article from the Christian Examiner of 1833 that is critical of the changes to italics that Blayney made in 1769.
