Media challenged over “fake news” stories claiming Bible is untrue

Leading British media outlets have been accused of publishing “fake news”, after stories emerged claiming the Bible has been disproved.

This week, The Independent, The Telegraph, and the Mail Online reported that new evidence disputes “the Bible’s claim” that the Canaanite people of the Old Testament “were wiped out” by the Israelites.

However, the Bible makes no such claim, with numerous verses describing the Canaanites’ continued existence in the Promised Land.

My apologies if I did not make myself clear. Our government is responsible for ISIS having their military might. They are not responsible for the radical practices and hatred of the group, that is self induced. The actions of our government are not due to the actions, inactions, or beliefs of Evangelical Christianity

Brother, you know I come from an amill position, not postmill, so we can both agree that a new order comes to unify the world against the Christian witness and Christ may return soon and that may keep us vigilant.

but to say it matters not who did what, I believe wittles down the scripture in Hebrews of the Word being a double edged sword, I'll find it later and post.

When Christians have backed a war that is in effect sabotaging a society so that jihadists can murder everyone, then these Christians have blood on their hands.

the devil truly is in the details.

I would be relieved to hear you say that I was correct on the ISIS issue, not to elevate myself (what you think of me is the least of my concerns, nor am I guided by personal pride on this matter) -- because it was our tax dollars at work.

just as much of a moral issue as our tax dollars paying for PP

Trump was disturbed, why aren't you?

Sister penned, it matters not to me which politician, government organization or party you charge with the goings on in the Middle East. There is more than likely a great deal of truth in those statements and much culpability. I have an issue with you blaming a segment of so called Christianity for things that are beyond their control.

Our Lord said His coming is based upon a day and an hour already known to God, I do not believe we can hasten or delay what God has decreed by our actions or lack thereof.

I believe instead that the second coming of our Lord should according to the Scriptures (in no particular order and certainly not exhaustive)

1. Make us watchful
2. Make us prayerful
3. Make us diligent about the Lord's work.
4. Keep our focus on that which is eternal.
5. Keep us pursuing holiness and practicing mortification.
6. Make us fervent in evangelism
7. Give us the proper perspective on the importance of spiritual things.
8. Remind us that we shall give an account to our Lord as stewards of what He has given to us.
9. Cause us to ponder the brevity of life.
10. Expect it at any time.

the evangelical wars that you still believe in, my friend.

was I vindicated on the fact that Syrian rebels were CIA financed through the last administration that led to ISIS?

that this was debated in Congress as they pondered, "is our agenda worth the death of Christians?"

and that the new President blamed ISIS on Clinton and Obama?

and that he garnered support of active duty military in the voting?

and that he has changed policy and is eradicating ISIS?

Lest we forget

Matt 24:3,6-8  And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.   All these are the beginning of sorrows.

Mark 13:7,8  And when ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.

if that doesn't fit your eschatological viewpoint, maybe it is time to rethink it.

2. Since when did you start trusting the CIA? (which by the way is not evangelicals) British and other countries intelligence agents (not evangelicals by the way) stated there were WMD. Saddam Hussein USED WMD against his own people. If none were there it is certainly because we gave him months to remove it.

3. Bush may have been evangelical but the members of Congress who passed the war resolution certainly were not.

Maybe the lie, in this case, is NBC news, that would not be surprising, but for sure it is not due to war mongering evangelicals who only exist on conspiracy websites. There may be a few exceptions but it is certainly not the rule.

Esther3:1"After these things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him."
Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite; whom
the Targums say descended from Amalek, and to be of the stock or family of Agag, the common name of the kings of Amalek;
& so Josephus-

1Sam 15 lack of obedience leads to Canaanite blood feud way later in the time of Esther

Matthew Henry"Haman was an Agagite (an Amalekite, says Josephus), probably of the descendants of Agag, a common name of the princes of Amalek, as appears, Num. 24:7. Some think that he was by birth a prince, as Jehoiakim was, whose seat was set above the rest of the captive kings (2 Ki. 25:28), as Haman's here was"
Would have been a different history if King Saul & others had been obedient to command to extirpate Cannanites.
Ignorance like this was laughed at by Ray Comfort's tale of his neighbors naming their kid Lucifer - a name they chose out of the Bible-
these Journalists would pick a name like Haman out of the Bible and wonder why their Jewish neighbors all hissed whenever they heard the kid's name. ( especially during Purim)
(Note the HAM part of HAMan- gen9:22)

Indeed these clever "professors" and "smart" journalists obviously didn't bother to read the books of Joshua and Judges, as well as the later books of 1 & 2 Samuel, 1 & 2 Kings, and 1 & 2 Chronicles, along with many of the prophetical books.

Had they taken the trouble to do so, they would have seen the repeated failure of the Israelites to get rid of their Canaanite neighbours completely, and at times, contrary to the commandments of God, even intermarrying with them, making treaties with them, and worshipping their gods, and at other times when they did make war against them, allowing them to pay tribute and stay in their cities, instead of totally destroying them.

These anti-Biblical liberals are definitely too careless and too quick to mock God's Word, and as Psalm 2 says, He ""will laugh, He will have them in derision".

Josh17:12Yet the children of Manasseh could not drive out the inhabitants of those cities; but the Canaanites would dwell in that land. 13Yet it came to pass, when the children of Israel were waxen strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute; but did not utterly drive them out. 14And the children of Joseph spake unto Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me but one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I am a great people, forasmuch as the LORD hath blessed me hitherto? 15And Joshua answered them, If thou be a great people, then get thee up to the wood country, and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim be too narrow for thee. 16And the children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Bethshean and her towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel.
Jer1:8Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD. 9Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. 10aSee, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down.."
