United Methodist Church Conference Ordains First 'Nonbinary Trans' Provisional Deacon

The Northern Illinois Conference commissioned M Barclay, who serves as director of communications for the pro-LGBT advocacy group Reconciling Ministries Network, as a provisional deacon on Sunday.

"For so long, I've longed to be a pastoral presence in the world — and certainly you can do that without a collar — but we have ordination for a reason, and part of that is that I can publicly identify as a pastor now," stated Barclay, as reported by United Methodist News Service.

CHAPTER V: The Priesthood, from "The Christian Ministry According to the Apostles" by Thomas Hughes Milner
Every Christian is a priest to God; he that is not a Christian priest is not a Christian. Such is their high calling of God in Christ Jesus, and hence the following Scriptures: Heb. iii. 1, 2, Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the apostle and high priest of our profession, Christ Jesus, who was faithful to him that appointed him. 1 Pet. ii. 4-9, Having come to the Lord as to a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God and precious, ye also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a purchased people, that ye should tell forth the perfections of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light. Rom. xii. 1, . Heb. xiii. 10-16
It's a great blog, upholds George Mueller's church as a good example of biblical practice.

You won that debate, they are so desperate they are talking themselves in circles. Well argued from a Scriptural standpoint John Y

John Y, I'm an independent, fundamental, temperamental, conservative, right winged Baptist, and I agree with everything John Uk said...even if he is peculiar.

Not really, John.

There is nothing wrong with bishops, pastors, elders and deacons. That is biblical. The spiritual oversight of a group of Christians is done by elders. Other work is done by deacons. But these are just brothers whose work is recognised by the group, and they play the role.

There is one Master, and we are all brethren. That is, Jesus is the Master, and everyone else are brethren. No clergy and laity, no denominations, no one-man ministry, no lavish buildings, no altar, no stained glass; just plain and ordinary. (see the film "Oliver"). Great film.

Rodney!

Good ol' King James, wherever would we be without it.

This is the abuse that often comes with those who claim to have 'authority' over others....
Francis most certainly does not have any authority over me. I reject Francis authority totally.

I think you misunderstood John Y or deliberately avoiding his question. He wasn't talking about removing Jesus as head of the Church. He was more asking about your Church structure. Scripturally sound Churches have Bishops, Pastors, Elders and Deacons per the Epistles of Paul

God's justice is consistent.
Therefore...

"Genesis 19:24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;

25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground."

"Jude:7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities."

Not in God's sight, you can't.

Besides which, it is unbiblical to have ordination of men, in the sense of a divide between clergy and laity. Church consists of God's people, some of whom are elders and some are accounted deacons, chosen by the local assembly for their God-given gifts.
