‘Communism for Kids’ Turns Deadly Ideology Into a Fairy Tale

In order to make the deadliest ideology of the 20th century palatable to young Americans, “Communism for Kids” is coming to a bookstore near you.

This newly released book from MIT Press “proposes a different kind of communism, one that is true to its ideals and free from authoritarianism.”

The death toll from communist regimes in the 20th century is well-documented. One study found that more people were killed under communism than homicide and genocide combined, and only 9 million more people were killed in World War I and World War II combined than under governments of this ideology.

Another study showed how the mass killings of civilians by their own governments took an immediate nosedive after the collapse of the Soviet Union and international communism. ...

I have- an account of challenge to forgive
Under Jakob's Ladder is an independent drama film Based on a true story, it tells how a teacher named Jakob Seel is arrested and thrown into a Soviet prison in 1938.

The film is set in the Soviet Union prior to World War II. It features the lives of the ethnic minority Germans from Russia.

Jakob Seel struggles with his growing sense of worthlessness after he is dismissed from his position as a teacher in a Soviet village. A neighbor asks him to say a prayer at the funeral of her brother. He agrees, even though he knows it is illegal. Jakob is reported &he is arrested by the secret police later that night. They take him from his daughter& granddaughter, Marta

Thrown into prison, Jakob &his fellow political prisoners find themselves under the heel of the ruthless warden: Nikolai -Unknown to them, Nikolai has an old vendetta against Jakob. One by one, during the night, prisoners mysteriously disappear. To help distract them from their terror of being taken, he forms a choir. Then he's challenged by need to forgive false accuser

""a different kind of communism, one that is true to its ideals and free from authoritarianism.”""

The nasty old "authoritarianism" of communism is usually God, Bible, church, morals, marriage, family, law and order etc.

Eventually a despotic stalinesque style of administration takes over and dictatorial government is put in place.

BTW: Notice how much this is like Liberalism.

Satan just loves communism. (And Liberalism).

If kids want to read a fairy tale about communism, they should read Animal Farm by George Orwell as mentioned by others in this thread.

Has anyone seen Jakob's Ladder? It is a historical film about a German Baptist minister in Stalin's gulag.

Amen, IE! Unfortunately, truth doesn't interest those who wrote and published or otherwise will forward the book. SA had an article posted about this book a week or so ago. Apparently this book is supposed to teach how to do communism the right way as the others just implemented it wrongly. As you pointed out, that's all utter foolishness. Without the Lord as the chief cornerstone of the system, there is little alternative except for an outcome described by Orwell's Animal Farm. People will look for both love & peace in all the wrong places and means. Ephesians 1-2 shows how all that and more come from faith in Christ.

Communism doesn't rise to the level of ideology. It is an evil criminal enterprise, and should be held as such and treated accordingly. What its supposed theory is, is irrelevant in light of its practice. We modern folk have such a hard time defining things rightly. We can't even see ISIS as Islam played out to its logical conclusion, because we don't like the idea that false God-hating, people-hating religion actually exists. Political correctness runs amok and all things good and bad are held to be equally valid.

If one truly wants to teach young Americans what communism is really about, it would be better to hand them a copy of the classic “Animal Farm,” by George Orwell.

The book is an allegory—using farm animals as stand-ins—about the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia a century ago. The revolutionary promise of “all animals are equal” is used to overthrow farmers, but quickly turns into a new, even more oppressive tyranny under animal overlords

A reign of forced labor, intimidation, and terror puts the animals under the thumb of their new masters—their ideals used to prop up an all-powerful regime. The refashioned creed becomes “all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.” In the end, human, or rather “animal,” nature proved to be more powerful than any ideology.

As the Roman poet Horace once said: “You can drive out nature with a pitchfork, but she will ever hurry back.”

This lesson from Orwell would be a much better way to teach young people about destructive ideology than a fanciful account of how “true” communism—minus the mean authoritarian stuff and mass murder—would be truly grand.

Under communism, tyranny is a feature, not a bug.

1984 was a long time past- the animals are in the house.

LGBT is an assault on male and female husband and wife. It seeks the annihilation of family the corruption of your children. It is the lifestyle of death and not something to be winked at. Although It must be remembered that this vileness is fermented in the aftermath of divorce and the bitterness that brings. May God grant us repentance and love for truth and all that is good as seen in our Lord Jesus Christ.
