Virginia Woman Accused of Self-Aborting Baby, Burying Dead Infant in Back Yard
A Virginia woman is facing criminal charges after allegedly self-aborting her unborn baby and then burying the dead infant in her back yard.

Michelle Roberts, 43, was recently indicted by a grand jury on a felony charge of procuring an abortion “with intent to destroy her unborn child.”

According to reports, police had received a tip in February that human remains were buried behind a home in North Chesterfield. A search warrant was obtained and forensic investigators were called in to excavate the area where the baby was buried.

The deceased child was then sent to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy with the assistance of a forensic anthropologist. It was concluded that the child was aborted during the third trimester and died due to “penetrating injuries to the head.” ...

"in an introductory lecture to his course on obstetrics in 1854, Philadelphia doctor Hugh Lennox Hodge lamented that even the mothers of his day were lacking of natural affection toward their own children and sought out means to kill them.

“They seem not to realize that the being within them is indeed animate, that is, in verity, a human being—body and spirit—that it is of importance, that its value is inestimable, having reference to this world and the next,” he said. “They act with as much indifference as if the living, intelligent, immortal existence lodged within their organs were of no more value than the bread eaten, or the common excretions of the system.”

“We can bear testimony that in some instances, the woman who has been well educated, who occupies high stations in society, whose influence over others is great, and whose character has not been impugned, will deliberately resort to any and every measure which may effectively destroy her unborn offspring,” Hodge sorrowed.

“[S]he recklessly and boldly adopts measures, however severe and dangerous, for the accomplishment of her unnatural, her guilty purpose … that she may be delivered of [a child] for which she has no desire, and whose birth and appearance she dreads.”

The medical examiner's office said the child was aborted during the third trimester, and that he died of "penetrating injuries to the head." Maybe the medical definition isn't a trial verdict, but the trial verdict can't change the medical definition.

btw, if the child so disposed of were not human, there could not even be a charge of improper disposal of the body.

1993, ethicist Peter Singer shocked many Americans by suggesting that no newborn should be considered a person until 30 days after birth and that the attending physician should kill some disabled babies on the spot. Five years later, his appointment as Decamp Professor of Bio-Ethics at Princeton University ignited a firestorm of controversy, though his ideas about abortion and infanticide were hardly new. In 1979 he wrote, “Human babies are not born self-aware, or capable of grasping that they exist over time. They are not persons”; therefore, “the life of a newborn is of less value than the life of a pig, a dog, or a chimpanzee.”
--
1972, philosopher Michael Tooley bluntly declared that a human being “possess[es] a serious right to life only if it possesses the concept of a self as a continuing subject of experiences and other mental states, and believes that it is itself such a continuing entity.”Infants do not qualify.
--
professor Jeffrey Reiman has asserted that unlike mature human beings, infants do not “possess in their own right a property that makes it wrong to kill them.” He explicitly holds that infants are not persons with a right to life and that “there will be permissible exceptions to the rule against killing infants ..."

here is a woman who admitted to having an abortion, though she didn't want to do it, but her baby had a fast growing tumor which had a 99% or better change of killing the baby even before a regular birth, now if you wish to discuss abortion here is a case to look at, [URL=http://tinyurl.com/lpxoxho]]]http://tinyurl.com/lpxoxho ('It was not a way out. Pretty hypocritical by the left if it's not a baby unless you want it to be. Isn't it just tissue or a fetus? Very sad story.

Amen! The baby doesn't pay for the crime of his father says Deuteronomy 24:16. The father guilty of rape is to be held accountable for his sin. The woman should carry to term and put the babe up for adoption if she does not want to raise the babe. She needs prayer and support to get through the pregnancy. That is how love responds. Over come evil with good. That is a biblical command. Anyone who suggest otherwise should be ignored since they ignore clear teaching from scripture.

Forensic investigators found the fetal remains, which were given to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for examination and autopsy.

"The results of the investigation and autopsy were discussed with the Chesterfield Commonwealth Attorney’s Office," the police spokesperson said.

In March, the case was presented to the grand jury, which returned an indictment for Roberts.

This is a developing story....

If abortion is legal then why was that woman charged with doing the abortion herself? Hypocrisy on the part of liberals.

The nation has officially sanctioned abortion and does it all the time.
Hypocrisy??

Why then can't the individual do what is legal and regularly carried out in the nation?

To take a life you must kill that life Abortion is state run murder.

So far, the only thing that is obviously --illegal-- is the improper disposal of a human. This could make people suspicious, such as grand juries, about other actions surrounding this behavior. Pleading ignorance of a law has always been regarded as not being relevant in having to obey a law.

The article was misnamed anyway. What happens after birth is not an abortion but infantcide or filicide. Something, that is universally recognized as murder. There seems to be doubt what happened to this infant before birth or after? So that is what the argument is about, was the child born dead or was it killed after it was born? It is also a case could it have been born alive or was it an abortion? Whatever happened will have to be proved in court, and not tried in the media.

What the doctor from 1854 had said was interesting but I don't think it has much bearing in this particular case.

The so-called "principle" the pro-death crowd lives by, and most of the law, is that the mother has a right to do with her body what she wishes. How then is what she did a prosecutable crime? What charge against her would be laid?

He can't give you an answer to your questions, but pro-abortion mantra. All to get people to feel sorry for a woman without natural affection for her child. I bet she is only in trouble cause some facility did not get the money for doing it since she went DIY. Probably upset she did not dispose of the remains properly too. The first more than the last. A lot of profit lost for an abortion facility. I didn't read article nor plan too. Tired of hearing about the baby blood spilt in our sexually promiscuous society. The lunacy of childless sex is believed by the masses. Folks want childless sex so bad they are willing to kill their offspring and the money grubbing abortion facilities are right there to make bank. May God send His Spirit to save us. I fear He has had it with us.

Virginia abortions. there have been a few of these in Virginia and for various reasons, e.g., [URL=http://tinyurl.com/lpxoxho]]]http://tinyurl.com/lpxoxho ('It was not a way out. I hope in the SA case is closely followed, it will be interesting to see if the ACLU has a case or not?

Abortions are wrong , except in rare cases, there seems to be a forgetfulness that there is always more than one victim---and the mother is often overlooked.
