Michigan college drops math, considers diversity course instead

Students at Wayne State University no longer have to take a single math course to graduate, and may soon be required to take a diversity course, instead.

“This decision was made largely because the current (math) requirement is at a level already required by most high school mathematics curriculum," the school explained in an announcement to students obtained by The Detroit Free Press.

In its proposed revision to the general education curriculum, however, WSU alludes to another motivation for the change, saying, “a clear message our committee received from the university community (faculty, students, staff, alumni, and employers) was that diversity is central to the nature of WSU, i.e., ‘Distinctively Wayne State.’ Thus we have placed the values and goals of diversity as a central component of the University Core program.” ...

Failing that, watch this lovely version, which also captions all the words, which is helpful:

Joy, joy, joy....
wish you could sing it for us so I could hear the tune!

Thanks Andrea, that really blessed me, those choice words. What a wonderful Saviour is Jesus our Lord! He is the same Jesus who created all things, who walked the dust of Gallilee, the same Jesus who will come in the clouds, with a shout, with all his holy angels. Praise God!!

John that's very interesting. Our area has an art club and they just held their exhibition. We have a book club, art club, knitting club, animal shelter club and a few soup kitchens. We also have clubs for social events aimed at all ages and an elderly club where folks get together and travel Greece at a very low cost. You would love the art classes and the exhibition. Not to mention the book club,as it is in English.Jeremy Irons just came over to celebrate Shakespeare's work.
By the way.....victory for Britain!!!! A nice slap in the face from God to Europe.Blessings my friend
Amen Andrea, it feels good to be free, although it will take some time to extricate ourselves fully.

Yes, those sorts of places are good to be a witness to Jesus Christ and his resurrection, as the apostle proved.

Are you going to complete the hymn commentary, we're on the last leg, and it is a most important part of the verse. Try it.

I'm feasting on manna from heaven
And that's why I'm happy tonight

"Happy" may be a bit misleading, because no matter what our state, whether good or bad, if Jesus dwells within, there is the joy of the Lord.

Your commentary edifies John, thank you.How can one not be humbled by such grace. Now,I will try to translate a beautiful hymn.By the way John,do you sell something at the market,or were you just visiting?
(Just curious!)We have very interesting markets here, however I once bought a gorgeous winter coat for a quid in England. So,it doesn't get better than that!! Blessings dear John
Hi Andrea, blessings to you, sister. That was a bit of a bargain, that. For our American brethren, in the UK a quid is common language for one pound, which I think is about 60cents in USA.

It will be interesting to see that hymn in greek.

In 2005 I started learning to paint watercolours, and in 2008 I began selling them locally. Things were fine for a few years, and then it started drying up. This year I sell on Tuesdays at a local hall, I have mine own table, and am considering giving that up as it's not making money. I'd rather be out evangelising in poverty. But at least I've been witnessing to others at the hall.

Tomorrow the last line of the hymn, and you can have a go at that, if you wish.

I'm feasting on manna from heaven
and that's why

Do people here know Welsh squeeze lime on their pancakes? Talk about Abominations, and Jobn has the audacity to say the RCC practices abominable acts? I have much more compassion on Christians in the RCC than Welsh

Nearly there, Andrea.

I gave him my old, tattered garment
He gave me a robe of pure white

Tattered garment? Rags of self-righteousness and other sins, law breaking.

Robe of pure white? The perfect righteousness of Christ.

Double imputation, Christ bears my sins, he clothes me in his perfection.

Maybe alluded to:
Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel. And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.
(Zechariah 3:3-4 KJV)

Salvation is a free gift, received through faith. God deals with all my sins: past, present and future. Not one sin is left out, but Jesus paid for them all.

Jesus paid it all
All to him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washes white as snow

Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
(Isaiah 1:18 KJV)

And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
(1 Corinthians 6:11 KJV)

Thank you Andrea for sharing that testimony of giving a Bible out to a man who knew himself far from God. Good things can come from such. Having joy in evangelism goes a long way toward people listening to what we have to say. Who would want to take advice from someone with a miserable face?

Tomorrow is our big day, and no-one knows how the vote will go. It won't make a lot of difference to me which way it goes. I am looking for a city that is not found here on earth. And there is nothing on earth that really interests me, I'm just passing through. I praise the Lord that heaven is a perfect place, with no evil permitted there. Imagine seeing all the holy angels and God's inhabitants, but at the very centre, there is The LAMB OF GOD, the KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS, our precious Lord Jesus Christ, who loved us and gave himself for us. HALLELUJAH!! PRAISE GOD OVER AND OVER!!

Oh what a Saviour that he died for me....etc

There is power, power, wonder working power
In the blood, of the Lamb

What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

Wa Hey!!

There's joy, joy, joy in my heart
Since Jesus made ev'rything right

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
(1 Peter 1:3-9 KJV)

When we go back to what salvation is (see above), there is a cause to rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.

Filled with the Spirit? The fruit of the Spirit, is love, **joy**........

Joy, joy, joy, joy, joy, joy, joy.....

Wa Hey!! Jesus made us right with God.

John that is a very encouraging testimony. Now that is witnessing, and where? At the market!!Last year I gave a Bible to this man at the market that sells shoes and bags.He is such an angry person,I told him about the Lord.He told me that God is very far from him in his heart, that's why I gave him a Bible. So,upon reading your testimony I was very encouraged, thank you.Joy,joy, joy flood our hearts!!
