Colorado School of Mines Sued For Denying Bible-Themed Donor Plaque
A former student of the Colorado School of Mines has sued his alma mater for denying him the right to mention the Bible on a plaque placed on the campus to honor his $2,500 donation to the school.
Michael Lucas, who played football for the school from 1998 to 2002, received one of 130 plaques in the locker room at the school’s new athletic facility after making his donation. However, things hit a snag when Lucas wanted to put Bible quotes on his plaque.
Lucas, in a lawsuit filed in federal court, said he did not want quotes on the plaque but the actual Bible chapters and verse. Specially, “Colossians 3:23" and "Micah 5:9.” The university rejected the language because it referenced the Bible and the school does not want to promote one religion over another....
