Franklin Graham Urges Boycott on Pro-Gay Companies

Christian boycotts have moved mountains in the past. But some believers are dead set against them.

Evangelist Franklin Graham isn't too concerned with what people think. He's only concerned about what God thinks.

As for Graham, he'll no longer do business with pro-gay companies and he's suggesting you follow his lead.

You must try and grasp the fact that Prevenient grace is a figment of man's imagination. It is just one of the cartoon characters of Arminian ideology.

Prevenient grace also nullifies God's ordination and decree of election and foreknowing. God's purpose in salvation is cast again into doubt by the heretical Arminians. Again they are seeking ways of giving the sinner the power of choice/decision over God.

Prevenient grace is also a means by which they negate the Bible truth of Total Depravity. Their fallacy that their is a universally available spare bit of grace floating around which all sinners can tune into again leads to their conviction that sinners can discern spiritually, are not completely at enmity with God, and so on......!!!

We also find that the Arminian modifies the Sovereignty of God to upgrade the power of man in salvation. Prevenient grace is just another facet of the heresy of the arminians.

Surely you jest.

Thanks for the info on the Lone Ranger and Tonto. I heard the dialogue on the radio once, and not knowing what you know about them it just sounded to me like a different version of 'man is destined to trouble as the sparks fly upward.'

You don't have to think anything about the uniform colors. I just thought they were a strange color for military uniforms and then later I read a commentary that mentioned the colors in Revelation 9 and they were the same. It was just for me to think about and apparently for your amusement.

I'm glad my questions served for your meditation, sister. I'll not attempt to answer your question on election but will offer some more relevant scripture for you to meditate on.

Isaiah 49-50, while spoken by Isaiah, is spoken both in the voice of Paul upon his calling and the Lord. Specific to the voice of Paul is Isaiah 49:1-6, 50:4-11. It's an invaluable read in understanding what happened immediately after Paul's calling.

Notice Isaiah 49:9 is quoted by Paul in 2 Cor 6:2 and Isaiah 50:4 is an allusion to Isaiah 28:11-12 quoted by Paul at 1 Cor 14:21.

Blessings

Perhaps misunderstanding of prevenient is getting in the way. Simply put, prevenient means to come before. If theologians wish to make it mean something else, it matters no more than those who say marriage can be between persons of the same sex. No, marriage has no alternative definition, and neither does prevenient. It still means to come before. There is debate over that which is termed prevenient grace, i.e., the grace which comes before. Before what? Before anything it precedes, which is everything that would not be, had there been no grace. According to Paul, he was given grace before he was born:

2 Timothy 1:8,9. “Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,”

We may not like what Arminians mean when they use the term, but we shouldn’t fixate on any misuse such that we deny what is. Prevenient grace is not only an accurate phrase, it's somewhat redundant to use it.

Psalm 23
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Lurker, I took your two questions yesterday and tried to stay to the Scripture. The Lord used your questions in ways I'd not anticipated throughout the course of the day. Through the Word and by His Spirit, God searched me. Then he taught me this morning, what I needed to understand.

In my search concerning Paul's conversion, I found Galatians 1:15-16 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:

Wasn't Paul's separation from his mother's womb, God's eternal election? Ephes. 1:4
Then I considered 1 Timothy 1:12-17

I believe Pauls' conversion a good example of ordo salutis. This is all I will say.

Amen brother, it's a wakeup call for sure, and we need to exhort one another daily unto love and good works.

A lot of those of the Pharisee religion thought they were elect, but they didn't and couldn't produce the works which prove it. Christianity is supernatural, and only a Christian can live above nature, by the grace of God and the indwelling of the Spirit, and by having "the mind of Christ".

Not a bad list at all

here another one

You might be truly elect if by the Sovereign grace and working of God in your life if you have:
-Repented
-Forgiven others even as God for Christ's sake forgave you
-Have so believed on the Lord Jesus Christ He is now and/or growing more and more to be your preeminent love, whom you honor, worship, trust, joyfully serve, obey and cannot keep from telling others of
-Where you delight to read/study the Bible; in this hearing His voice and following Him
-Are Baptized by Immersion
-Delight to be with others who know, love and serve Him too
-Where you love your family, your neighbors, strangers and even your enemies and those who hurt you will the love Christ showed you while yet a sinner
-Give the enemies of the Cross, the promoters of cursed false gospels and false teachings no place of saftey among you where you will tolerate and cease to expose what is amiss, their apostasy, misleading, where they will not hear the Truth and be urged to repent and get right with God

Forgive my ignorance, but I'm not familiar with the term prevenient grace. Is it the same thing as Gods effectual calling? That seemed to be what I got out of John Uks posts.
GS, you are quite right.

You know what it's like on here. I mention "repent" and someone comes back and says "Arminian". I mention "believe on Christ" and someone says "Arminian".

It's a bit like that shrink's test where they say a word and you have to say a word connected to it.

Let's test Moniker Man.

Repent - Arminian
Believe - Arminian
Prevenient Grace - Arminian
Seek the Lord - Arminian
Be ye holy - Arminian
Be ye perfect - Arminian

Now those of us who believe the Doctrines of Grace, know that saving grace is only for the elect, chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world.

Prevenient Grace, therefore, which goes before conversion, can only be for the elect, which means that it cannot be in any shape or form "Arminian".

But, say some, PG is also a doctrine of Arminians. Sure, because they believe that God's grace can be thwarted, defeated.

Whereas we believe in Effectual Calling.

This effectual calling is prevenient to conversion, i.e. it goes before.

Romans 7:9-10 KJV
(9) For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
(10) And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.
"I was alive", says Paul. But he was mistaken, he was not alive but "dead in trespasses and sins".
Oh dear, John! That's a slippery slope you're attempting to navigate. Not like you.

Instead of correcting the HS who inspired Paul to write what he did, wouldn't it make more sense to spend some time figuring out why your understanding of what happened on Damascus Road won't reconcile with scripture as written?

. . .

GS, from and earlier post:

Prevenient grace is a Christian theological concept rooted in Arminian theology [...] It is divine grace that precedes human decision. It exists prior to and without reference to anything humans may have done. As humans are corrupted by the effects of sin, prevenient grace allows persons to engage their God-given free will to choose the salvation offered by God in Jesus Christ or to reject that salvific offer.(WIKI)

Bear in mind that there are several variations which should raise a red flag that none are grounded in truth.

As for me, end of discussion.
