Calling Gay Unions 'Marriage' is Offensive, Rand Paul Says

Rand Paul has said calling same-sex unions marriage “offends” him and others and believes gay marriage should have been replaced by “contracts between adults”.

The Senator, who is thought to want to stand for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016, made the comments during an interview on Fox News with Bret Baier on Friday.

“I’m for traditional marriage. I think marriage is between a man and a woman,” said Paul.

“Ultimately, we could have fixed this a long time ago if we just allowed contracts between adults. We didn’t have to call it marriage, which offends myself and a lot of people. ...

Legitimizing a homosexual social "contract" under new laws is also offensive to true justice and righteousness, especially to gain the financial benefits of true marriage.

This is why they must come into the public schools and call Christians bullies and teach innocent youth who are not even developed enough to understand anything about perversions. Otherwise boys would fall in love with girls, get married and continue on the cycle of life.
Wikipedia: Pederastry (I avoid the link for obvious reasons)
"Pederasty in ancient Greece was a socially acknowledged erotic relationship between an adult male (the erastes) and a younger male (the eromenos) usually in his teens. The influence of pederasty on Greek culture of these periods was so pervasive that it has been called 'the principal cultural model for free relationships between citizens.'"
The Greek civilization's "free relationships" was signal to the end of their civilization. As it has been to every civilization that goes that way. Isn't it funny how so few can connect these dots? All they have to do to refute is to show one that hasn't followed the pattern. Where today is the long lived society espousing sick relationship as norm? Spiritual rot leads to moral rot leads to political rot. Same old.

Ken from Iowa,

Characteristics of pagans and barbarians. These are just my notes on Romans Chapter 1.

1.They choose to deny the existence of God despite His obvious presence demonstrated in His creation.
2.Because they choose to reject Him, they are turned over to their own lusts and desires.
3.They worship, revere or pay homage to idols and/or God’s creation instead of Him.
4.They not only sin without remorse, but they encourage others to follow in their ways.
5.Their consciences have become seared.
6.They have no fear of God and will be subject to God’s wrath.
7.They are capable of committing any sin that we can imagine, either directly or indirectly.

I would say that God's judgment has already begun. When we openly and shamelessly sin against our holy triune God, then God has simply turned us over to our own lust. Just think about the hundreds of millions of babies that have been murdered. Just think about our divorce rate and the plight of single mothers. Have they both been getting worse and worse. And, Sodom and Gomorrah thought they were living in peace as well. Just remember God's time table and judgments aren't the same as mankind's. God is not mocked

Read Romans 1 and you will understand the way most of us think.

Are you a born again believer?

km: "Calling same sex unions "contracts between adults" offends me."
I agree with this part of your statement.

Wayfairer: "Five years from now men will marry children and women marry barn animals."
That particular slippery slope fallacy is a category mistake. Children and barn animals could not by law be considered consenting adult humans.

People have been insisting that society will collapse when same sex marriage is legalized, for decades. It didn't, so now people insist God will smite our country for condoning sodomy. Well, that's not really a prediction without a timeline -- it's more of a waggling finger.

Every generation since before Socrates complains that the generation after their own is morally worse. But all these fears of scary, but very vague bugbears haven't materialize in other countries that are several years ahead of the US in legalizing SS marriage, and show no signs of happening here, either.

All present and correct, sc.

Maybe God had the book of James written partly as he knew antinomianism would need countering later on in the life of the Christian church.

The expression "works salvation" is also an oxymoron. We are saved by God's mercy (not receiving that which we do deserve) and by his grace (receiving that which we do not deserve). Works have no place in salvation but they are merely the result of it.
I'm thinking that homosexual unions might become passe. Homosexuality, more than likely, won't but committed partnerships might. Not too many heteros,as it is, get the marriage thing right.Whether it's a result of the culture or not, there will probably be more and more movies about the unfaithful homosexual partner...and so it goes. I think that the homosexual union thing is more a product of rebellion and unity than it is anything else, other than Judgment,of course. We might want to consider that with or without homosexual unions, this society, for the most part, accepts and encourages the idea of sodomy.Same sex partnerships will exist with or without laws like all other sins. And "no" I'm not pro sodomy.

Anybody who has any sense, knows that works won't save you, but then also that person should know that the Romish Church is immoral anyway.
former Franciscan priest Emmett McLoughlin wrote:
... the Roman Catholic Church in its most important work sanctification is a failure. Among its members crime and immorality are greater than the unchurched or the members of other churches. Whatever else the Roman Catholic Church may be able to do... it cannot, it has not, and it does not make the majority of its members better and holier....

It is completely inadequate when tied to the idea of "works" salvation, John Y., as has been pointed out to you in, ]]Roman Catholics, Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses, just like "peas in pod." Oh, from the Billy Graham Evangelical Assn. as reported in, ]]http://www.mrm.org/billy-graham-mormonism-christianity (Billy Graham and the “cult” fiasco),
BGEA wrote:
First, cults almost always claim that they, and they alone, have the truth. They turn their backs on almost 2,000 years of Christian history, and say that other churches are wrong and will deceive you. They point instead to their leader or founder as the final authority, and claim that God has given them a new revelation of Himself. Second, cults always reject what the Bible teaches about itself. The Bible alone is God's Word—but cults add to it or substitute other books in its place.

I hope Christians understand that to come to faith through the effective call of God regenerates their very being. If a transformation has occurred , then being a Philistine or pagan is no longer an option.Fight your sin and do not join in with those that don't. Please, Walk out of any church that even hints at tolerating or props up pagan practices or unsound doctrine.

I'm glad Rand Paul restated the obvious about queer unions anyway.

Rand Paul is correct that calling fruitcake unions 'marriage' is offensive to those against fruitcake marriage.
