Big Psychiatry: Eating Too Healthy is a “Mental Disorder”

Apparently not content with medicating more than one out of every five Americans with mind-altering and potentially dangerous psychiatric drugs, the Big Psychiatry and Big Pharmaceutical industries are working to promote their latest invented “mental disorder” supposedly requiring their benevolent and costly assistance: Being too concerned about eating healthy. Calling the proposed new “disorder” orthorexia nervosa, the increasingly discredited establishment press has so far been more than happy to unquestioningly parrot the notion that people deeply concerned with eating healthy and nutritious food are somehow “ill” and in need of expensive “treatment.” As public knowledge of toxins in processed food and genetic engineering spread, the "disorder" is apparently surging in tandem.

The dubious diagnosis of so-called “orthorexia,” which translates roughly into righteous or correct eating, was first ...

UPS, I just read in your post the link:

http://chipur.com/the-silence-of-stigma-shhh-jessicas-powerful-tale/

Interesting. When did I say that I didn't have sympathy with people who had organic problems such as schizophrenia?

I remember one of the most interesting professors I had --oh and I had more courses in therapeutic side of psychology, then the typical Psychiatrist has had or at least at the time I got my degree-- so I do know something about it. He pointed out that caring, personal attention was one of the best treatments for schizophrenia. I think he had something, I don't think a lot of the other professors did.

Yes, and I would have pointed out to Jessica--as an armchair psychotherapist-- it would have been much better to have kept quiet about her illness and to have acted as normal as possible. Also, there are drugs out their that control the symptoms of schizophrenia. Many have been helped by them to function normally in society. From what I see, anorexia nervosa may have some ties to schizophrenia, something that again a doctor or psychiatrist should be consulted on.

But still, for huge majority the problems, ]]How to Have Victory Over Sin is the only --true-- cure.

Dear sister Jessica, please note that despite unkind remarks that continue from some posters on this forum, please note that you are an encouragement to many of us who follow your graciousness and trust in God despite the struggles you face. You are modern day example of the sufficiency of God's grace in the midst of trials. May God's grace continue to uphold you as you can say with Job,

Job 23:10,11 But He knows the way that I take; when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold. My foot has held fast to his steps; I have kept his way and have not turned aside.

Dear Penny, May God Almighty heal of us our hurts and bring us into a place of forgiveness and everlasting peace in our souls! May God pull down the strongholds in our lives that would keep us from a steadfast loving relationship with God our Father and The Lord Christ Jesus! O may God in all seasons strengthen us with His mercy that endures beyond the generations! Peace to you my sister!

that's some pretty cruel writing there Jim. I would expect an apology or at least a clearing of the air. Isn't it amazing that God saves the least of these and raises them up? And those who are wise in their own eyes have no advantage in the Kingdom of God, that it is the humble of heart that are heard by the King?

ok, I read my post again and did mention sc. I believe my context was that you did have advantage to hit the link that was posted. I believe Lurker was pointing out that Jessica had given links to her write up in the USA Today.

It was kind of you to give Jim the benefit of the doubt, but he really left no doubt if you had read his two post both of which referenced problems due to sin and downplaying the sister's condition.

I guess all of us,especially me, would do well to think before we speak.

Hopefully, you're not accusing me of being cold. You will note that I was trying to encourage Jessica and give Jim the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps, you could do the same for me. You are being a bit presumptuous.
I don't think I mentioned you in my post, so no I was not saying you were being cold.

John UK, praying for you and Liz.

Jim was saying exercise is helpful even if you are on fast food diet but what does that have to do with our dear sister. She even posted a link on her condition in another thread (see 2/21/15 9:38 PM Flower Shop Owner) which sc and Jim were was active in.

http://chipur.com/the-silence-of-stigma-shhh-jessicas-powerful-tale/

That article also has a link to the USA Today article Lurker posted again. So, it would not have taken much research to see what she is going through. Sigh, I just noticed he also made a rather cold hearted condemning comment over there (which hopefully they will remove)

[...] Jessica, did you understand that he was not suggesting that you eat fast food in the previous post? When he mentioned fast food,he was suggesting that it may be problematic if you did just eat it.And he may not have been well enough acquainted with your specific condition to know that exercise might be a challenge to you.I don't think that he was being cruel there. Not everyone is familiar with all who post on here. It might help to keep that in mind. We all have a propensity, from time to time,to read things through subjective eyes and miss what was actually intended.
I would like to thank everyone for their prayers and encouragement to me!

sc I do not know if I misunderstood Jim's post or not, because when you dissect the actual words he said it does read as if he is encouraging a diet of fast foods in addition to exercise. I cannot truly know, because he has not clarified this?

Jim Lincoln wrote:
Exercise, Jessica, it helps with a multitude of problems including a diet that consists mainly of fast foods -- though of course talk to your doctor about it.
Nevertheless, Jim has been in my prayers... God bless, hope, and peace to you all!

"Conviction is annoying too,Lurker"

Ranks right up the with your snarky come backs.

"If you carefully had read what I had posted in regards to Jim's comment regarding fast food and exercise, you would have figured it out. Maybe you need to properly discern before you assume"

I know exactly what you said you thought he said. How was it of any interest to you unless you can't resist a chance to meddle? If you don't care enough for a disabled sister to bother to understand her lot in life... butt out.

"I wouldn't have an idea of Jessica's condition unless I would read through all of what has been posted, which I don't"

Says it all. But you could have an idea if you cared. Did you read the article I posted? Jessica posted that quite some time ago and I care enough for her that I saved it.

"And sweet as she may be she did misinterpret what Jim had posted in regards to his fast food comment"

Misrepresent as in lie? Couldn't even give her the benefit that she may have misunderstood in her despair?

"I was merely pointing that out. She was upset, partially, because she thought that he had recommended that she eat more fast food, not less."

Really? You know nothing about Jessica and yet you are an authority of what she thought?
