Nearly three in five births to unmarried women across the United States were to women living with their partner — marking the first time a majority of these births were to women in cohabiting relationships, according to a new analysis of federal data released Wednesday (Aug. 13).
The increase was sharp; the percentage of nonmarital births within cohabiting relationships rose to 58 percent from 41 percent in just a few years, says the report, based on various data sources from the National Center for Health Statistics, collected between 2002 and 2013, the most recent available....

Tara, I am trying to make sense out of this part of your response. Go and sin no more were the words of our Lord to the women caught in adultery that they wanted to stone. It seems like He was making a compassionate statement to me. For that matter, because sin has consequences (or as one put it, Sin will take you farther than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you want to pay.) is not the admonition a very caring statement to all of us? Did not the apostle Paul remind us that those who practice fornication shall not inherit the kingdom of God and should we not warn them to flee the wrath to come? "For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication" (I Thess. 4:3) is a stern warning to Christians, wouldn't getting them to stay God chastening hand be an act of compassion? Have you been to churches where they turn young mother's and their children away? Need a little help here, thanks.
Welcome to the World of the 21st Century, Christians who read news on SermonAudio. Remember these facts, like an earlier story (maybe posted here last month?)about the low level of marriages and high cohabitation rate for young people, when it comes time to do any kind of outreach to them, especially events like Vacation Bible School. When a young mother visits your church with child in hand, what welcome will you give her? Will you stand with an accusing finger and say, "Go and sin no more" before letting her sit in your 'worship service?' Check out the titles of the sermons that are posted just above the comments line for this story.
And the Church rather than being a part if the solution is becoming a part of the problem. Morality in the Church has really nosedived in the last 50 years. Much of the Church excuses it by flippantly saying, "well nobody is perfect". Shame on us.
Reminds me of Jesus' day when the woman was caught in the act of adultery. The focus was on the woman though it took two persons to commit the act of adultery. It is not indicated how many young fathers are cohabiting, instead of making commitments to marry the mother of their children. Without a father, there are no children. Fathers are an important part of the child's upbringing, and children should have their needs provided for as well as their overall well-being where at all possible. I understand that not all fathers are always able to provide for their children in a jobless economy, but those who have the means to support their children should do so. ________________________________________________

Really? These denote DEPENDENCE on parents with a trade or not
Genesis 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Deuteronomy 25:5 If brethren dwell together, and one of them die, and have no child, the wife of the dead shall not marry without unto a stranger: her husband's brother shall go in unto her, and take her to him to wife, and perform the duty of an husband's brother unto her.
Numbers 36:6 This is the thing which the LORD doth command concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, Let them marry to whom they think best; only to the family of the tribe of their father shall they marry.
I could go on, but the reality is that LAW and INHERITANCE played the determining role in Hebrew marriage

John I would suggest its more of a reflection of a culture than the mental stability of the women influenced. Of more concern, the Church should examine why so many children of Christian homes accept and even take part in this part of our culture. Im not saying its time for parents and pastors to point fingers at each other, because there is plenty of blame to go around.
