Barack Obama sensationally won the Nobel Peace Prize today after just nine months in office for returning America to a multilateralist foreign policy after eight years of going it alone under George W Bush.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee said it was honouring the 48-year-old US President for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples".
The five jurors, elected by the Norwegian parliament, also said in their citation that they had attached "special importance to Obama's vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons"....

I applaud your convictions.
John, for me, personally, beheading would be easier than going to prison. I would be a wimp suffering in prison. The mere thought of not having freedom to come and go, or speak, is too much.
Death, OTOH, is more palatable. Maybe it's just that I've lived long enough, and experienced enough of what the world offers, that I really don't love the world, or what it offers. I guess you could say that I am one of those who "loved not their life unto death."
I should clarify that by saying, I am not morose, or pessimistic. In fact, I'm "look[ing] up, for [my] redemption draws nigh."
P.S. Have you given thought to the "beheading of the saints" in Revelation? It's interesting, "beheading" is something that is done in the name of Allah/Islam, to infidels (Christians, and others unwilling to submit to Islam). Islam did not exist at the time of the writing of Revelation. It would be more that 600 years later that Mohammed, the founder of Islam, would appear on the world scene.
A hasty decision, I think. He's only been in the office for a few months and before this I don't recall hearing his name in connection with great achievements in international peace and cooperation. I think they are just trying to save his reputation. And remember those words from his pastor? They were hardly words to help acheive peace.

Soon, he will sign the Hate Crimes Bill which will mean that Christians will not be allowed to speak of homosexuality as a sin, nor publish anything to that effect. That means verses in the Bible will be considered hate speech. Passing Health care reform is an essential step in establishing a one world government. An injectable chip, already available will have personal information for obtaining services. The next step is receiving the mark of the beast so as to be able to buy and sell. This will be tied to receiving health care with the chip injected under the skin for identification.

Of course, this completely erases any meaning to the Nobel Peace Prize. It appears that the darling of the liberals/socialists will receive any and all prizes, awards, trophies, etc. without effort.

Okay, 1 John..I'm listening..and, you wanted to make a point?
But, while I'm waiting let me insert this from an AP article as food for thought: "In Pakistan's central city of Multan, radical Islamic leader Hanif Jalandhri said he was neither happy nor surprised by Obama's award.
"But I do hope that Obama will make efforts to work for peace, and he will try to scrap the policies of Bush who put the world peace in danger," said Jalandhri, secretary general of a group that oversees 12,500 seminaries."
I need not point out that the 12,500 seminaries are Islamic, and, peace for Islam only comes when others submit to Allah. Obama has embraced the Islamic world. Sobering thought.

I was shocked when I read the headline of his win of the Nobel Peace Prize. Scripture says, "When they say peace, peace, then cometh sudden destruction." This President is not a man of peace. This award was given because of his outreach to the Muslim world. Muslims are not peaceable people. In fact, where ever Islam goes, so goes the sword. The Koran calls for the death of anyone who will not submit to Islam. Bow the knee to Allah or die. Sure looks like Obama is the anti-Christ or the predecessor of the anti-Christ. Islam is anti-Christ. Obama is pro-Islam, and he has never renounced his Muslim faith. He stayed in a racist, anti-semitic, anti-American group (I will not call it a church, because it doesn't uphold the teachings of Jesus) for 20 yrs. It was a means to an end for him to form a political base in Chicago, and to rise to power through the corrupt Chicago political machine. Obama is not a man of peace. It will be surprising if Obama'a "peacemaking" efforts do not lead to further war. Playing footsie with lunatics as though they actually want peace will hardly bring peace, nor will apologizing to them for the existence of the US. Obama is precisely the kind of leader whose efforts will be taken by the loonies, not as wisdom, but as weakness.
Blessed are the peacemakers. At least he is trying to lessen war. Not like his predecessor who arbitrarily chose the way of war. Still, he doesn't deserve the award.
I can see giving it to Woodrow Wilson, but Yasir Arafat? Give this present world enough time in the crazy direction it's now going and I wouldn't be suprized to see Bin Ladin (for "helping the world" by "cutting the US down to size") himself, or someone similar win this no-longer-honorable "Peace" prize.
"The Norwegian Nobel Committee said it was honouring the 48-year-old US President for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples."
And if we look around, we will quickly see that world peace is at hand, thanks to Mr Obama. Iran, Afghanistan, North Korea, are falling over themselves to please the One.
Never has there been such universal admiration for hope as an end in itself. Why let reality disturb the wishful thinkers?
Of course, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Woodrow Wilson in 1919, probably because he was fighting the War to End All Wars. Ain't hope grand?
